12 Reasons Why Harry Potter Fans Make The Best SO's

Harry Potter fans (or Potterheads, as we are more affectionately known) are pretty much the best at everything. We have the funniest gifs, the most clever members, and probably the most detailed fan - fiction. We also dominate the romantic playing field. Though we all know there are more reasons than 12 as to why we make the best boyfriends and girlfriends, here is a sampling that should convince even the Vernon Dursleys of the world.

1. We’re children at heart

I mean we’ve fallen in love with stories about a world bursting with magic and centaurs and Hufflepuffs. We still got that childlike wonder, so you don’t have to worry about us having some gross, cynical view of the world, even if we are muggles haven’t tapped into our full magical potential yet.

2. We cherish our independence — and yours

How else could Harry, Ron, and Hermione have always saved the day? Wait around for the adults to fix the problem? Hell nah. Similarly, we aren’t going to depend on you for everything. We like having our own lives, riding our own hippogriff (get your own, buddy).

3. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t pros at loyalty, too.

I mean, come on, we are crazy loyal to a series of books that are CRAZY WITH LOYALTY. I think it’s safe to say we got your back (and if you die after having a baby with someone else, we’ll still protect that baby with our lives, even if we’re still kind of a total dick to that baby).

4. We tell it like it is

Don’t worry about us bottling up our feelings, because life is too damn short to be passive-aggressive. #WhyMoodyRonIsSoAnnoying

5. We can comfort like no other

We have comforted ourselves enough through the utter tragedies that are Book 5 Chapter 35, Book 6 Chapter 27, and the entire seventh book to know the best pick-me-ups (hint: it almost always involves food, and maybe a fort).

6. We have a thirst for adventure

After reading and re-reading stories with castles, Quidditch, dragons, and secret platforms, we crave our own adventures and are down for anything that’ll make for a good story.

7. But we can also just chill out (and pig out)

I mean, we did spend hours (maybe days) at a time sitting on a couch, reading Harry Potter. We treasure those cozy indoor days and can dig Netflix and pizza dates with the best of them.

8. We value privacy in relationships

Don’t expect us to be gushing our love or relationship problems all over social media. Ginny and Harry have taught us to cherish privacy and that the best relationships are intimate in private and understated in public.

9. WE READ

So, this is obvious, but we all know readers are the best. They value knowledge, curiosity, and culture. You want these values in a partner.

10. We can be rebellious

We’ve seen the trio again and again fly in the face of authority to stand up for what they believe in. You can rest assured that we, too, will stick by our principles, even if it means going against popular opinion and thickening that rebellious streak (and being super tongue-in-cheek when we do it).

11. We're good in bed

Yeah, you heard right. After having death R.I.P., our favorite couples from each other, we get that every time might be the last time and we better make it count.

12. We understand the complexity and variety and strength of love

Throughout the series, we’ve witnessed love in all forms: Ron and Hermione’s bickering, Molly’s lectures, Fred and George’s tricks, James and Lily’s sacrifice, Snape’s undying dedication, Harry’s life given up for his friends. And in this variety, we see love’s universal strength. How can you not want to be with someone who knows that love conquers all?

However

We may have some trust issues...

So, do you want my number now or..?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
