Everyone has that one friend that they can talk to, complain to and share their secrets without having to worry about them sharing your business. This person is great at giving advice and being the shoulder that you cry on. If by chance, you can’t think of anyone in mind then sadly my dear, you are that friend. You are charged with the title of mom friend. Do not fret, it’s not all so bad.

Pros of being the mom friend:

  1. The biggest pro is that you are very needed. Your friends come to you for advice and to share their struggles. The things that they can’t tell their real mom, they tell you.
  2. Your friends think that you are reliable and trusting, they have no problem introducing you as a great person, even if you don’t think that you are. People have a tendency to take you more seriously even if you really are a huge dork.
  3. You get to give them advice; if you are anything like me, you probably don’t have all of the answers, but don’t let them know that. You get to tell people what they want to hear without actually having all of the answers.
  4. You finally have enough dirt on all of your friends. If there is ever a situation where your friends get on your nerves, give them that mom look, you know the one. The side eye that says I could end you, and guarantees that they remember how easily you could blackmail them. I hope for their sake that you really aren’t a spiteful person.

Cons of being the mom friend:

  1. Did I mention that people need you? If you aren’t the type that enjoys attention or giving advise, this is something that terrifies you. Why do people want to need you so much? Sometimes you feel that when someone calls you,it's only because they want something.
  2. You probably can cook or often have food in, which means somehow, conveniently, your friends will show up just in time to eat your food. You are nice enough to share so that probably means that you are usually hungrier than you let on.
  3. You know everybody’s secrets and you can’t tell anyone about it. You lucky individual, you. You have the exclusive honor of carrying everyone else’s burdens.
  4. You don’t have any one to confide in. You are the mom friend, and that means that you don’t really have someone to share your worries with. Unless you have a dad friend; but let’s face it, no one wants a dad friend. They’d just make bad jokes and pretend to listen.
  5. You go between feeling like you want to be alone and feeling that you want to be around your friends but you wonder how well they know you.

No one will really be able to understand you the way that other mom friends do. It's a calling and a burden, but you are part of an elite group. You can help people through their tough times and give advice; and although it may be tough for you sometimes, it can be quite rewarding to feel needed.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
