Everybody loves a good hole-in-the-wall place to eat. It's sometimes where you can find the best food in the most unlikeliest of places. These underrated gems are hidden all over Rhode Island and each offers unique tastes that native Rhode Islanders would highly recommend. If you're new to Rhode Island or just haven't heard of these awesome places, you'll have to check them out.

1. Bob and Timmy's Grilled Pizza

Definitely one of my favorites, Bob and Timmy's is located in Federal Hill of Providence, R.I. A true hole-in-the-wall restaurant, this small pizzeria resides in between Federal Hill local homes. They serve some of the best grilled pizza you've ever tasted as well as other classic American favorites. But you better get there fast, because this location has few tables and fills up quickly.

2. Egg's Up Family Restaurant

Egg's up is a classic seat- yourself old diner in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Popular by the locals, but underrated by the rest of Rhode Island. Another small restaurant, it sits in the heart of town and serves all the breakfast favorites. Their cinnamon roll pancakes are especially tasty and their omelets to die for. I definitely recommend if you're just looking for a quaint old fashioned diner experience.

3. Iggy's Doughboys and Chowder House

Okay, so maybe Iggy's isn't such an unknown place to most Rhode Islanders. But if you're going to school in Rhode Island or just visiting and haven't heard of this little shack, it's practically tradition to go. They have two locations, one in Narraganset, R.I. and the other on Oakland Beach in Warwick. I'm pretty sure I've dragged all my out of stater friends to experience Iggy's more than once. They make the infamous Rhode Island doughboys, which are not fried dough and serve up some of the best clam cakes and chowder. You are not a true Rhode Islander until you've been to an Iggy's.

4. Sundaes

I had to add at least one ice cream place on this list. Sundaes is an extremely tiny ice cream shack that sits right on the bike path in Cranston, R.I. This place has an extremely large ice cream selection ranging from soft serve, hard serve, frozen yogurt, and even ice cream for your dog! It's definitely a diamond in the rough but the quality is great! When I was little we would always stop at Sundaes after a ride along the bike path.

5. Fellini Pizzeria

Another Providence, R.I. pizza restaurant, Fellini's offers some fantastic thin crust pizza. The portion sizes are huge, and if you're looking for a quick bite to eat in a cute artistic setting, it's the place to go. The cooks make everything right in the back where you can see and it's always fun to watch. Not only that, they have a mini bakery selection as well that has some of the best blondie brownies. It's also located near a ton of awesome boutiques.

6. The Picnic Basket

This little deli is sure to be known by a lot of students attending the University of Rhode Island as it's located right on the edge of Eastward in Narraganset. With a great atmosphere and aesthetic, they have a wide variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches to choose from. If I'm ever in the area I'll stop by to get a quick sandwich. They definitely don't lack on ingredients and it's an extremely short walk to the beach!

7. Coffee Exchange

To native Rhode Islanders, Coffee Exchange is known to be a hot spot in downtown Providence, R.I. This coffee shop has a great history, they work directly with local coffee growing families, and the taste pay-off is amazing. If you ever want to stop for a great coffee while you're in the state's capital, check this adorable place out!

So if you're ever in Rhode Island and are looking for a new place to eat or hang out with friends, these 7 restaurants are sure to please!
