15 Things You Miss About Growing Up A 90s Kid

If you were lucky enough to grow up in the 1990s, you know what a time it was to be alive. You may have forgotten all the great things that made your childhood so special. Here are 15 of some of the greatest 90s trends you may have crazed!

1. Nintendo 64

If you weren’t playing Mario cart, Mario party, or super smash bros in your bean bag or inflatable chair, you were doing life wrong.

2. Spice Girls

Let's be honest, if you say you haven’t jammed out in the shower or sang karaoke to “Wannabe”, you’re not just lying to everybody but to yourself, too.

3. Lisa Frank

Lisa Frank school supplies was a must have for any girl, most especially, unique rainbow folders, ranging from unicorn to puppy designs. Now, you’ll be surprised if you can get your hand on a printed folder that isn’t of a new boy band or artist.

4. Dunkaroos, Kid Cuisines, Push Up Pops, and so on...

They were the ultimate snacks we will forever miss. Well maybe not so much the Kid Cuisine, but they sure did look cool and appetizing to a 7 year old.

5. Lip Smackers

Similar to the Lay’s slogan “Betcha can’t eat just one”, no girl could simply have only one lip smackers. A collection was necessary, whether candy, soda, or dessert flavored.

6. Shrinky Dinks & Easy Bake Ovens

Pleasantly surprised, our parents let us use mini ovens to make food, and heating machines, to shrink plastic at such young ages, but hey, those unconventional toys sure kept us busy!

7. Squishy Plastic Tube Things!

They had absolutely no purpose, yet they could mesmerize us for hours! Oh how the tides have turned.

8. Scrunchies, butterfly clips, hard fabric headbands, & bandanas

If you think your boring hair is on fleek now, take a glance at your throwback photos. Can't beat the wild up do's, featuring sparkly butterfly clips and crazy crimped hair!

9. Blockbuster Video

Oh, the convenience of taking a trip to blockbuster, to pick out family movies, video games and baby bottle pops ... for once, Netflix has never seemed so boring.

10. Game Boy

Whether plain gray or classic purple, tetris, donkey kong, and pokemon games, served as unlimited fun.

11. Tamagotchi

Mom wouldn’t let you get that puppy you wanted. Deal, settled for a tamagotchi and probably gave it more attention then you would a real pet.

12. Mash

We may have just been predicting our future based on how long the spiral we drew was, but no one was happy when they predicted to be shacked up, driving a garbage truck and having 36 kids.

13. Beanie Babies

The Beanie Baby craze was one for the books. Even McDonald's joined the bandwagon by hooking us up with the free happy meal beanie baby toys.

14. AOL Instant Messenger

Instant messaging your friends and crushes was all fun and games until they left your initials out of their profile. No worries, you would have probably just left an, away message along the lines of ...

15. See-through phones

Not gonna lie, I definitely tried to steal my sisters see-through corded phone to call my best friend's home phone, so we could decide if our next dance we'd make up, would be to a, Christina Aguilera or Avril Lavigne song.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
