The Worst Foods To Bring To Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving is coming up, which means that soon it will be time to stuff your face. Thanksgiving is supposed to be about thinking about what you’re grateful for, but most people are probably just thinking about how they’re thankful for the plethora of delicious foods they will get to eat. However, there is always that one relative that brings a horrible dish to the Thanksgiving festivities. Like, come on Aunt Carol—did you even try?

First up on the list of horrible Thanksgiving foods: green bean casserole. Green beans are absolutely delicious, and turning them into a casserole is unnecessary. Who looked at green beans and thought, “these need something… let’s put them in some cream of mushroom soup and put fried onions on top! Yeah, that’s good.” Also, are those fried onion things used in any other recipe? Maybe green bean casserole was just made as a reason to keep French’s Fried Onions selling.

Don’t even get me started on the canned cranberry sauce. You know, the one that always keeps the shape of the can even when it’s been out of the can for all of dinner? It’s pretty much all sugar, which in theory sounds good, but it just isn’t. If you want to bring cranberry sauce, at least put a little effort into it and find a recipe to make it yourself.

Some people don’t have much time to devote to making something homemade, and sometimes that is okay. However, there are certain Thanksgiving foods that are just not the same when they are store bought. For example, homemade noodles are way better than the store bought ones. Also, it is easy to just buy mashed potatoes from the store, but homemade mashed potatoes are the best. If you’re in charge of bringing the potatoes, just take a little extra time to make them at home because it will make a huge difference.

What even is a cheese ball? I love cheese, and I eat it all the time with everything. But you will never catch me indulging in a nice cheese ball that a lovely relative brought to dinner. Why are there nuts in it? Why does it look like that? It’s weird and needs to not be happening.

The best part about dinner is obviously dessert. Usually Thanksgiving dinner ends in pie, which is great. However, what is the point in bringing any pie that’s not pumpkin? It is everyone’s favorite, and there never seems to be enough for everyone. So do your fellow dinner guests a favor and don’t even worry about any other pie besides pumpkin, the greatest of all time.

If you are getting ready for Thanksgiving and need to bring a dish, please don’t even think about any of these things. You will just be “that person” who brought something no one really wanted to eat but they did anyway, so they wouldn't hurt your feelings. Hopefully you bring something delicious that will get you invited back next year.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
