28 Reasons Why Everyone Should Visit New York City

New York City. The Big Apple. The Concrete Jungle. The City That Never Sleeps. The nicknames are endless. New York City is one of the most beautiful cities, and it may not be beautiful like Athens, Greece or London, England but in its own way. Everyone, at least once in their life, should make it to New York City and there are an endless amount of reasons why.

1. No matter what time of day it is, there is always something going on.

There's a reason it's called "the city that never sleeps." There is always a light on and people moving.

2. Times Square

Yes, it can be very overwhelming especially near the holidays and on the weekends, but it's one of those experiences you simply cannot make up.

3. Broadway. Broadway. Broadway.

Even if you're not into the whole singing and dancing thing, Broadway shows create such a lively atmosphere and everyone can't help but enjoy it.

4. Ground Zero

September 11, 2001. A day that no American will ever forget. The reflecting pools in place of the towers let us remember all those who were lost that day.

5. The Naked Cowboy

Nothing like strolling through the streets of the city and running into a Naked Cowboy. Make sure you ask for a picture, he always knows how to make them funny.

6. The famous movie scenes

There are an endless amount of movie and television shows filmed in New York City, making great stories to go back and tell your friends about. "You know that show/movie? Yup, I went to where ... happened."

Speaking of movies and television shows...

7. "Gossip Girl" and "Friends" literally took place here.

8. The Statue of Liberty

Nothing says, "Welcome to New York," like Lady Liberty.

9. The Dirty Dogs...

No. I'm not calling the dogs in New York City dirty. I'm talking about the numerous hot dog stands located at the corners of almost every street. They may look sketchy, and probably are, but are surprisingly really good.

That's not the only good food in NYC though...

10. The variety of delicious food

Okay, I'll stop with the food, but if this didn't convince you, just check out the endless amount of NYC Food Instagrams. That will definitely sell you on this. New York City easily homes some of the best restaurants in the nation, and maybe even the world.

11. The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree

Even if you don't celebrate the holiday, the tree is a lot of fun to visit and take pictures in front of. It may get a bit crowded, but hey it makes for an adventure and is definitely worth it.

12. "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon," "Late Night With Seth Meyers," "Saturday Night Live"...

Need I say more?

13. Fifth Avenue

Fifth Avenue has all the stores that we all wish we could shop at one day -- Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Henri Bendel, Van Clef & Arpels, and more.

14. Central Park

Central Park. If you need a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of NYC and feel like getting back to nature...

15. The High Line

16. Bryant Park

Yeah, another park! For a "concrete jungle," there is definitely a lot of green to go around and it's beautiful throughout the seasons. During the winter, Bryant Park also opens up an ice-skating rink as well as different small food and boutique stands throughout the park. There are also even public movie nights in the park during the hotter days.

17. The museums

See, we have culture, too!

18. The Toys R Us

There is a Ferris wheel in the center of it. Let your inner child out -- you know you want to.

19. The Empire State Building

One of the world's tallest skyscrapers. And you can go to the top of it.

20. Radio City Music Hall

21. Madison Square Garden

From basketball to concerts to hockey, MSG is the home to many iconic events.

22. Grand Central Terminal

An abundance of movies and shows were filmed here. And fun fact, there are walls located across the room from each other known as "the whispering walls" where you and a friend can talk to each other through the walls and hear each other.

23. Winter in NYC

If the tree wasn't enough, Macy's window display and Rockefeller Center's ice skating are always fun things to do during the winter in the city.

24. The Subway makes for an adventure.

The Subway? Yes. It may not be one of the prettier parts of the city, but riding the Subway is always an adventure, just make sure you're going in the direction you want to be going in.

25. The nightlife

There are numerous amount of clubs and since NYC is "the city that never sleeps" the party never ends.

26. Chinese food, bagels and coffee at every corner

Where else can you get Chinese food all night long, a fresh bagel in the morning, and coffee anywhere at any time?

27. The people

New Yorkers may get a bad reputation, but there are so many interesting people you can meet in the city every day. People are constantly moving in different directions and come from all over the world.

And finally...

28. IT'S NEW YORK CITY!

It's wild. It's crazy. It's chaotic. It's crowded. It's dirty. It's nonstop. And you can't help but love it. It's New York City.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
