Honestly, I don't know why I trust Shonda Rhimes anymore with anything other than breaking my heart and making me cry. "Grey's Anatomy" came back this past week after leaving us with one of the most awful cliffhangers months ago, and I know it was not just me that was biting my nails thinking about the fate of Japril and Jolex. Then when the trailer was released simply showing Meredith being thrown into a wall by a combative patient? Thank God I have school to distract me from all of this incessant worrying. Here are some thoughts you most definitely had while watching the latest episode.
1. Yas, Meredith. Be heard.
As the episode opens, Meredith's monologue reminds us -- especially women -- that you have to speak up to be heard, that if "you're not ready to fight, the silence will kill you."
2. April Kepner. Turn around.
If April had just turned 90 degrees, she would have been able to see the attack going on in the trauma room right next to her.
3. Amelia. Get up off the floor. Derek didn't die for this.
You cannot help but know that if Amelia hadn’t been so bitter about Meredith and just gone to help with her trauma first that none of this would have been happening. But, she couldn’t put her pride aside and so she sinks down to the floor and lets her addictions come back in full swing. Seeing Amelia give Meredith her
4. When Karev says, “Everybody in this damn room is her family” about Meredith and you’re just like:
5. Actually Karev this entire episode has you tearing up.
From holding Meredith’s hand while she goes into surgery, and laying in the bed next to her while she cries, Karev makes you so thankful that they have each other as their person. And seeing Karev take all of Meredith’s kids to her just puts you over the edge.
6. You momentarily forget about the fact that Blake was involved with Derek’s death.
When Blake opens Meredith’s jaw because she’s having a panic attack you have never been so thankful because you found yourself unable to breathe too. Then Blake goes on to prove she’s also been listening to Meredith’s monologues when she stands up for herself against Jackson and defends her medical decision.
7. You wonder who in your life deserves forgiveness.
If Richard Webber can convince Meredith to try to forgive Amelia, you can forgive anyone.
8. Your heart just melts when Meredith forgives Lou.
You half expected Meredith to throw the vase of flowers at him when he tried to apologize so this is a win.
9. You’re yelling, "Yas, Meredith!" again.
She reminds you “don’t let fear keep you quiet… make yourself heard” as she returns to the trauma room where she was attacked. She conquered tragedy, she survived again. And she’s not going to let fear keep her from her passions.
10. You’re calm for about all of five seconds before you remember that Jackson served April papers and there’s still no answer on Jo and Alex...
Same, Mer, same.
