What Life Is Like As A Third Wheel
thezogblogdotcom.files.wordpress.com

Best friends are referred to as "two peas in a pod" for a reason. They have extraordinary similarities, which is why they just tend to "get" each other. However, the majority of best friend pairs tend to have a few key differences, one of which is usually relationship status.

If your best friendship is anything like mine, one girl is extremely beautiful, kind, intelligent and humble. This girl also seems to always be fending off interested boys at every turn -- usually because she already has a man in her life. She's basically a boy magnet. The other girl is probably a bit less perfect, a bit more sarcastic, and a whole lot more single. Judging by the title of this article, take a guess at which point of view I'll be speaking from today.

So now that we're all on the same page, here's a shout-out to all the sassy single slayers out there and their perpetually paired BFF. Here's what it's like to be the third wheel.

At the beginning of the week, you and your best gal make lunch plans on the weekend for much-needed "girl time." When Saturday rolls around, you get to Panera a bit early to save her a seat, practically bouncing out of your chair ready to tell her about everything that's happened to you this week.

However, she doesn't walk to your table alone -- she's with a boy. Oh gosh, you think to yourself. Not another one. As is your style, you bluntly ask:

And exactly what you expected to happen, happens:

Your friend kindly introduces you to her new man. Still a bit miffed, you respond as politely as possible:

You pull your friend aside with the explanation of a "bathroom break" and begin to lecture her on the rules of girl code.

"Oh come on! It'll be FUN!" she pleads. But you know better ...

You had really been looking forward to girl talk, and you obviously will have to edit your rants with Mr. Handsome at the table.

I mean, it's not that you're not happy for your friend -- you're really proud of her for snagging some arm candy!

So you begrudgingly accept your new role in this tricycle.

You can handle hanging out with the two of them as long as it means you get to see your best friend.

But they have to follow a few rules around you...

Rule No. 1: No PDA around the third wheel.

Rule No. 2: See rule No. 1.

See?! It's not that bad! You guys even end up having a lot of fun together.

That is until your friend decides the only thing that could make things better is if you got a boyfriend, too! Aww, double dates! How cute!

But the thought of that much "couple-y-ness" fills you with intense nausea.

She insists that she'll set you up with someone -- but you insist that that is definitely not necessary.

"But babe, you just seem so lonely."

If the relationship is looking solid, you're already prepared to be the best maid of honor she's ever seen.

But if the relationship starts to sink, you'll be there for her then too.

Because boys may come and go, but no matter what happens, you'll always be there for her. That's what best friends are for.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
