Seven Reasons Why Cooler Painting Should Die

Seven Reasons Why Cooler Painting Should Die
1. We aren't all crafty. When I joined a sorority they didn't ask me "how well can you craft" because that is just not a real thing among sorority women. I don't enjoy painting and I cannot paint the perfect bow tie on the corner of your cooler that is just going to get ruined at formal. Chances are when I sit down to paint it's going to turn out a lot less like this:

And a lot more like this:

2. We don't have the time.

I go to the same university as the guy who I am going to formal with and I take the same classes as he does (if not harder ones). Yet, he thinks that I actually have 10 hours to spend on this? You have to be crazy to think that I am going to fail my midterm just so that you can have a cute cooler for one weekend.

3. We don't have the money.

Cooler painting is not cheap. There is the cost of the actual cooler: $20-$30. The cost of paint: $20 if you don't already have every color you need. The cost of finishing spray: $8. The cost of whatever you plan on putting in the cooler. This all adds up to be a pretty expensive project and a college girl is not made of money.

4. We don't have the room.

Where am I supposed to paint this massive cooler? Am I supposed to take over my living room for a whole week and potentially ruin my furniture with paint? That's not happening.

5. We don't get to keep it.

Why am I spending my time and effort and money on something I will most likely never see again?

6. We don't get anything for our formals. When sorority formal time comes around what do our dates have to do? Show up. That's it. They just have to show up. No coolers involved at all.

7. We don't want to. This is the most important reason. Never have I ever heard a girl say, "Man, I just can't wait to paint a cooler!" Why is there this unspoken obligation to do something that we absolutely don't have the desire to do?

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
