...Five best friends embarked on the journey of a lifetime. How I Met Your Mother is an American sitcom that follows the life of Ted Moseby and his four best friends, Marshall, Lily, Barney, and Robin. And it seems, as the five searched for friendship, family, and particularly love, they taught us a little bit about those as well.

1. Sometimes, you might feel a little hopeless.

2. Don't handle breakups alone.

3. Rebound wisely.

4. You don't always agree on everything...


5. But you do come out better for it.



6. You might bend the rules just a little...



7. You're a team.



8. Love is unpredictable...



9. ...everyone's imperfect.



10. And it won't always be easy,



11. ...but it will always be worth it.



12. The best loves...



13. ...come from the best friendships.

14. Love is taking a deuce in peace.



15. The quirks are the best part.



16. Sometimes, you just find things.



17. Embrace the pet names.



18. Sometimes love is right around the corner

So go out there. Go out there and find the Marshmallow to your Lilypad. Find the woman you're going to spend years telling your children about. Find the one person that makes you change your ways and open your heart. Hang out with your friends, chase your dreams, have a drink, and remember that sometimes you have to get out there and create your own destiny. Don't spend your whole life waiting for the universe to decide how your life will go. Make a move, kiss the girl, steal the blue french horn.
