Recap Of Georgia's Year In Sports

Let's recap Georgia's year in sports.

Starting with football… once again it was an exciting football season for all of the Georgia Bulldog fans. After a 10-win season, the Dawgs, unfortunately, didn't make it to the SEC Championship game, but there were many memorable aspects of this season. Starting at the beginning of the season, with the huge anticipated 45-21 win over Clemson, the Bulldog fans were more excited than ever to watch this team grow throughout the year. With a new quarterback, a Heisman trophy candidate running back, experienced receivers, and a better secondary then the years before, the future of the Bulldogs seemed very bright for the 2014-2015 season.

With some big wins over Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Kentucky, and Auburn, the Bulldogs seemed to be in a good place to make the SEC Championship game. Unfortunately, the losses to South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia Tech, were just too much, and stopped this team from making the Championship game. Even with the road ending too soon, some new guys became a family household name during the season. The biggest being Nick Chubb, who showed Bulldog nation that even with Gurley hurt, he was able to carry the team, just as well, if not better, than Gurley has done in the past.

Moving onto Georgia Basketball… this year's team was able to have an overall record of 21-12 and an 11-7 conference record. With some huge wins over Kansas State, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Auburn, and South Carolina in the SEC Tournament, this year's team was able to make it into the NCAA Tournament. This would be the first time Georgia has been invited to the tournament since 2011. Even though they, unfortunately, lost to Michigan State 70-63 in the first round, the Bulldogs were still able to be invited into the tournament unlike the 2012, 2013, and 2014 teams. The highlight of the year, however, was the game in Stegeman Coliseum verse Kentucky. Hosting an undefeated team at home led to the largest crowd of the year, and the Bulldogs did not disappoint their fans. They were able to keep the game very close until the last six minutes of the game. Even with the loss, the fans at the game, and even those watching on the television, will forever remember the game.

From Basketball, we move to tennis. The fifth-ranked Georgia women's tennis team is nearing a close of the 2015 regular season. So far they have an overall record of 17-4, and a conference record of 10-1. After the regular season ends, the women's tennis team will begin competing in the SEC Tournament. Jeff Wallace, the coach of the women's tennis team since 1985, and the winningest active NCAA women's tennis coach, is hoping to gain some more wins throughout the tournaments to come. Along side the tournaments to come, Wallace and his women's tennis team, hope to bring back the NCAA team championship title to Athens, for the first time since 2005.

Next up, gymnastics. The 10th seeded Gymdogs will compete April 17 in the first semifinal of the NCAA Championships. The Gymdogs with an overall record of 13-10 was able to win their 24th NCAA regional title, earlier this month. The ten-time national champions will be making their 31st appearance at this years NCAA Championships.

Lastly, the Georgia baseball team with an overall 19-15 record and 5-7 SEC record, will continue to try and be the first Georgia baseball team since 2008 to make their way to the College World Series. Until then, the Bulldogs will have to play against some rival SEC teams, and make it past the NCAA Regionals and Super regionals, in order to have the chance to compete in the College World Series.

The 2014-2015 sports season has just been another season that proves to the nation that Georgia Athletics is always a contender, no matter the sport. With the successes from this season, the future of Georgia Athletics seems to only keep getting better and better.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
