Olivia Pope For President

Olivia Pope For President

I know that women are fighting for and progressing in their rights every single day, but I want more. I want more women doing great things and being recognized for the great things they do. I want a woman like Olivia Pope to rise up and show us what women of power are all about. Olivia Pope, although she may be a fictional character, represents everything that women should strive for. She is powerful. She is strong. She does not take no for an answer. She does not let men, or what she does with men outside of the work place define her. Olivia Pope for President, am I right?! If you don’t believe me, lets take a look at her attributes and then try to tell me she’s not qualified to run a country!

Although, it is becoming more common now, women are still struggling to come out on top in the political and business world. Olivia Pope RUNS the political world in "Scandal." She shows us that a woman can do it just as good, if not better (sorry guys, but you should see this woman at work in the show) than men.

Olivia Pope is in a powerful position and she doesn’t let that destroy her femininity. She rocks her stylish outfits and beauty while in a position of power and does not let people disrespect her or even give them a chance to doubt her abilities just because she is a woman.

A lot of times women are shamed for their sexual escapades while men are saluted for theirs. Olivia’s love life may dance the line of interfering with her work life, but she does not let that affect how any one sees her. She is more than just her sex-life.

She does not crack under pressure. Olivia has the confidence I can only wish I will have at some point in my life. Whether she is giving a speech, speaking at a press conference, or making risky decisions for her clients she is poised and confident to the point where if she told you she had 12 toes you would automatically believe her! Even in times of personal crisis she rises to the occasion and puts on her professional face to get s*** done!

Olivia Pope has every quality I would look for in a female presidential candidate. There aren’t many shows on television that display women in a positive and powerful light like this. Yes, I know I haven’t mentioned anything about her political views…it’s a TV show guys, come on! What I am saying is that the character of Olivia Pope has all of the personal attributes that I would love to see in a “lady of power”. She sets the standards high. Sooooo, now it's our turn ladies. Pour yourself a glass of wine. Tune into Scandal when it returns this fall. And take notes because it is time a "real" Olivia Pope rises.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
