Sometimes life just isn't going right. We've all had times, whether it be a day, a week, or perhaps an entire year, when life isn't going the way you wish and simply doesn't seem fair. While feelings and problems cannot just disappear, I have been able to find comfort in the words of others and the hope that people continue to have, even in their darkest times. These scholars and writers each give some wisdom and inspiration through their words and portray the importance of finding a silver lining and trying to have a positive spirit no matter what life throws your way.

Life is not meant to be easy, simple, or even fair. Overcoming obstacles is an inevitable part of life in order to achieve greater successes. I've learned that you have to push through the bad parts in order to reach some of the best parts of your life.

We often get so caught up in our own problems that we forget about the obstacles that everyone around us is facing. Trying to brighten someone else's day, rather than wallow in your own, not only helps someone else, but will be rewarding for yourself as well. Compliment others and perform a random act of kindness. Even something as little as paying for someone's coffee behind you will make that person's day and give you something to smile about as well.

When losing someone in your life that you love, whether it be a family member, friend, or even a pet, it is so easy to focus on the tragedy of the loss, rather than the love that your grief represents. It is hard to remain positive when grieving, but remembering the love that you will forever have for this individual is comforting and helps you to recognize how fortunate you were to love and appreciate someone that much in your life.

Sometimes you need to take a second and remind yourself that some of our best days haven't even happened yet. While life is constantly changing and you sometimes have to leave people and places behind, I always find comfort in knowing that there are many more memories and moments to come.

Sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to -- and that's OK. Rather than spend time overthinking and wishing you had done something differently, take a breath and remember that everything happens for a reason.

If Meredith Grey can be this optimistic after surviving a plane crash, a shooting, and losing her McDreamy, I think we all can. There's nothing wrong with being futuristic and having an image in your head of how you expect your life to be. But you must always be ready for this image to change, because it will, a lot.

When something bad happens, it always feels like the end of the world. Whether it's a bad test grade or a hard breakup, it's common to be overdramatic and feel as if you will never be OK again. Yet, within some time, that problem becomes something of the past. Life moves on, and you move along with it.

It's so hopeful and refreshing to think that when life isn't going right, it is only because it's leading you to something great. Having this type of optimism is empowering because this allows us to remain excited about the future and truly believe that all of our struggles will be worth it in the end.

Whenever I see bad things happening in the world or in my own life, I fall into a negative attitude where I begin only seeing the bad things and never the good. This type of negative attitude only increases the problem. The world is a beautiful place if you allow yourself to see it from that perspective.

One of the most important lessons is to always remember that you could have it worse. No matter what problems you may have, being thankful for the people and things in your life is key to happiness. There is always someone out there who is struggling more than you. Be mindful of all the things you have to be thankful for -- whether it's a roof over your head, the home-cooked meal your mom just made, or the clothes on your back.

One of my all-time favorite quotes. A problem that I have, and I'm sure many others do as well, is lacking confidence in yourself. It is so common for people to point out their imperfections rather than their strengths. When you take a minute and see how genuinely beautiful you are, inside and out, it can change your entire perspective not only of yourself, but of the future ahead of you as well.

Toilet Troubles

"So, usually I would never go on a Tinder date but when you are out with girlfriends and a hot Bosnian guy says he wants to hang with you and his friends, you oblige. We head to their apartment and when I realized I may pee my pants if I don't find a bathroom soon. I ask for the bathroom and a friend of my tinder date shows me to it and said in all seriousness that I was not allowed to flush the toilet under ANY circumstances. Having a few drinks--or five--I relieved myself to, nevertheless, flush the toilet. Within seconds, his bathroom was flooded and towels were laid out everywhere to catch the toilet water. To say the least, we were not invited back"
