While they are a "female-fronted band," that is not the best description of their category. PVRIS is very much an alternative synth-pop/rock group that just happens to have a female vocalist.
1. Female Singer
They are a female fronted group in a music industry with not nearly enough women in it. Lynn Gunn is more than just a phenomenal vocalist; she's a badass with opinions she is not afraid to speak (role model material).
2. PVRIS has a strong aesthetic.
From their promotional content to their outfits, live show, and music videos the band has a consistent black and white, blurry, soft, ghostly vibe that reminds fans that music has a deep connection with art itself. The band could open up their own art museum-goes-haunted house at this point.
3. Breaking boundaries
They break the boundaries of typical rock/pop groups by often abandoning traditional instruments to make way for synth and keyboards which lead me to my next reason...
4. The songs
...each song sounds apart of something bigger than the song itself, it becomes a part of the universe. Their sounds offer an escape to another world or dimension if you close your eyes and allow yourself to get lost in it.
5. They work very hard.
When is this band not on tour (worldwide)?! Just within the past two years, they have supported Mayday Parade, Pierce The Veil, Bring Me The Horizon, and now Fall Out Boy. This also means you'll probably have a chance to see them in your city if (when) you fall in love with them.
6. They made music videos for every song on their album White Noise.
You have a lot of catching up to do so finish this and then go get started.
7. The band uses their platform and following to talk about important issues such as LGBTQ rights.
They were huge supports of the #LoveIsLove movement and often are very open in interviews about topics such as sexuality.
8. The Merchandise
Okay, they honestly have great merchandise and not your basic screened print T-shirt. It's practically its own clothing line.
9. PVRIS has more music than you might think!
While they are known for their White Noise album, they also have PVRIS Acoustic and Empty Room Sessions. Don't worry, though, more music is on its way including a deluxe version of their current album with new songs.
10. They have a lot of potential.
There is no denying that PVRIS has had massive success thus far, but they are definitely not letting up anytime soon. There is something special about supporting a band as they start to grow and by supporting this band there is no doubt you'll have the pleasure of experiencing that.
