Toledo may seem uninteresting at first glance but If you think you have experienced all Toledo has to offer, think again. There is always something new to do, sometimes it just takes thinking outside of the box. With these fun things to do in Toledo, you are sure to never get bored again!

1. Visit Imagination Station. Ask an employee why it isn't called COSI anymore.

2. Go whale watching at the Maumee River. If you spot one, make sure to snap a picture and alert the media immediately.

3. Take a trip to Wildwood with a friend. Walk down separate trails and ask people if you can pet their dog. Whoever pets the most dogs wins.

4. Go to the Sylvania Historical Museum dressed in your favorite colonial garb.

5. See how quickly you can find a parking spot at the University of Toledo. Try to beat your time, each time you go there.

6. Go to the Toledo Zoo. See if you can get a gorilla to wave at you.

7. Stop on by Bumble and try as many different olive oils as you can.

8. Count the number of flowers at Toledo Botanical Garden.

9. Take a nap under the stars at the Ritter Planetarium.

10. Go for a run at Secor Metropark with a friend. Count the number of mosquito bites each of you has at the end of the run. Whoever has the least, wins.

11. Bring a ball to a Toledo Mudhens game. Act like you caught a foul ball.

12. Crab walk the entire University Trail.

13. Ride all the rides at the German American Fest. You will not regret it...or maybe you will.

14. Go to the docks and challenge yourself not to take a selfie.

15. Count the number of orange construction cones on Central Avenue.

16. Be a part of a Civil War reenactment.

17. Dress up as a fish at a Toledo Walleye game. If you are feeling really fun, have your friend bring a fishing pole.

18. Recreate the sculptures at the Toledo Museum of Art using play-doh.

19. See how many times you can ride the train at the Franklin Park Mall in a one hour time span.

20. Sled with a friend at Harroun Park. Whoever hits the least amount of trees wins.

21. Participate in all of the cultural festivals that Toledo has to offer.

22. Walk around Toledo telling people that you "hope they are doing better in Toledo."

23. Eat at Tony Packo's. Complain that your hot dog does not taste Hungarian enough.

24. Take up two parking spots at the University of Toledo. Check Twitter continuously to see if someone has posted a picture complaining about it.

25. Shop at Fallen Timbers and Levis Commons. Write down the similarities and differences between the two.

26. Go to a Toledo Rockets football game dressed up as a falcon.

27. Sketch all of the houses/buildings in the Old West End.

Now go out in to the great city of Toledo and have some creative fun!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
