Back To School As Told By 'Gilmore Girls'

Christmas is over, the new year is here, and now it's time to go back to school! Between best friend reunions and stressful preparation, move in weekend alone is full of ups and downs that are best explained by everyone's favorite coffee obsessed mother-daughter duo, the Gilmore Girls.

1. Leaving your family

No matter how excited you are to go back to school, it's sad to leave your family after being with them again for a whole month and spending the holidays together.

2. Seeing your roommates again

Reunited and it feels so good!!! If you're lucky like me and love your roommates, lots of hugging ensues!

3. Having to unpack everything...

"Hey, I'm here come help me bring my stuff up!"

"How far away did you have to park?"

"Okay, how much can we possibly carry and still be able to unlock all the doors and go up 3 floors?"

"Is it bad if I don't put everything away tonight?"

4. And then a late night "we're back!" celebration

Let's just pretend that all the unpacking justifies the unjustifiable amount of food we get to eat tonight. After all, we're celebrating our reunion!

5. Unfortunately, even getting up early is oversleeping on the day before classes start.

I mean, of all of the relatable things Rory Gilmore has said, this one is pretty high up on the list of the most relatable... Sometimes in college, you have so much to do that any sleep at all is just too much sleep.

6. Because, of course, there's an endless list of things that need to be done before then.

I guess a couple of days is supposed to be enough to prepare for an entire semester? Caffeine is such a blessing.

7. Grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, schedule organization...

There's no time for sleep, but you also need sleep so you're ready for classes. Honestly, there's no way to win in this situation...

8. And then you start getting emails from your teachers...

This is when you remember that coming back to college means more than coming back to fun and friends. Hooray for rude awakenings?

9. Everything does finally get settled, but classes are still in the back of your mind the rest of the night...

At least college kids are good at pretending real life isn't real...

10. Oh well, nothing left to do but eat your feelings!

Night two of binge eating whoops... You'll start your diet once classes start, right?

11. And kick butt on your first day of class!

Waking up in the morning is hard, but the first classes are never as bad as you think they will be. Thank goodness for syllabus week!

Have a wonderful semester everybody! May you all have time for a "Gilmore Girls" binge session!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
