7 Reasons Why I Watch 'Fixer Upper'

"Fixer Upper" is not like any other HGTV show. They have brought a different type of dynamic to this channel. They act real. Unlike many of the other TV hosts, they seem real. It doesn't feel like they are reading a script and it's like you are actually watching the real Chip and Joanna Gaines on TV. I don't only just watch the show because of how amazing the interior designs or the constructions of the houses but rather I watch it because of Chip and Joanna. Here are the reasons why I watch Fixer Upper:

1. Their relationship

They are literally relationship goals! When you watch the show it is as if you are actually seeing their relationship and not something that is fake or scripted. Plus you can't write some of the things Chip says.

2. Their children

They have made some of the most beautiful human beings on the planet with their sun-kissed hair, golden tan, light freckles and I don't feel weird saying that. Clearly I have watched this show way too many times. Also, they say some of the cutest things on the show.

3. Their values

You can see their values when you watch the show. For example, how they always make a way to eat dinner together as a family no matter what. It's amazing to see their Christian values slowly seep through the show, but it is not overpowering that it puts you off. It's refreshing to see a Christian based family on a well-known TV channel. Also, if you haven't seen Joanna's testimony then you should really watch it. Here is the link.

4. They are funny

I love how every time the show starts it begins with a blooper and it never fails to make me laugh. The things Chip says are unreal and sometimes I don't know how Joanna deals with him. Especially the time he ran through the wall just because and probably hurt himself, but said it was awesome.

5. Shiplap

Shiplap over shiplap it is one of Joanna's core pieces when designing a house and I love it. I honestly never get tired of it. It's something that I have never seen in houses from where I am from. I love the idea of exposing your house and seeing what is underneath and then making it a decoration.

6. The farmhouse

Is it weird to be in love with this house? Because I am! I love the whole story behind the farmhouse and the design. Also the fact that is has 40 acres of land is amazing. I just want to go to Waco, Texas just to see this house and actually see the layout of the house because it's still a mystery to me.

7. The design

Some people criticize Joanna how she does the same design over and over again and I beg to differ. Yes, she does use shiplap and distressed wood often, but that is her design. It's the type of design she likes. What makes her different from the other TV designers is she always makes it personal to the client. She includes that one thing that speaks to the client.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
