It's About Time I Thank You, Dad

I don't think you truly understand how thankful I am for everything you have done.

It's About Time I Thank You, Dad

In my family where my mom passed away while I was still in high school, my dad had to step up and go through some of the toughest times with me acting as both parents, and I couldn't be more appreciative of everything he has done, and taught me during such emotional times. Sometimes our dads just don't get enough credit, but this article is definitely for all the people who don't know how to put their thank you's into words

Daddy,

I honestly don't think all my thank yous will amount to everything that you have done for me, but here are a few.

Thank you for the endless amount of support during the toughest times. No matter what challenge, loss or major setback life has thrown at me you stood by me 100% of the time and you have shown me that everything will be okay.

Thank you for teaching me to be fearless. Everything I was scared of like going to college you made me want to jump right into it with an open mind and get myself out there by being the best I can be and I couldn't do it without you.

Thank you for pushing me to follow my dreams. I was blessed that I had a dad like you where it wasn't an option to be anything less than great, and you made it known that even starting at the bottom one day you could be at the top and nothing is out of my reach. I am my best asset.

Thank you for making me believe in myself. Without you I couldn't have believed that I could achieve greatness with just myself I needed you to truly believe that I can do it.

Thank you for showing me how I should be treated. Watching you treat mom like a queen truly shows me that I deserve nothing less from a man in my life, and not every girl will understand that, but because of you I do.

Thank you for taking care of me when I am sick. I know I can be a drama queen when I am sick, and always assume the worst is happening to me, I practically act like I am dying, but you put up with the worst and still wait on me hand and foot, and do everything in your power to make me feel healthy again, especially after surgery.

Thank you for putting up with my teenage angst. I am sure you truly hated my mood swings and my constant attitude problems, but you made it that much easier to go through growing up with you by my side while teaching me right from wrong.

Thank you for teaching me to constantly speak up for myself. If it was not for you, dad I would put up with anything, but you have constantly told me that I need to speak up for myself otherwise people would walk all over me, "Never grow a wishbone where your backbone ought to be."

Thank you for constantly motivating me. No matter where I am, or what I am doing, if I am feeling down about myself, and I just want to give up I know the first person to talk to is you because you show me what greatness can come of my future if I am doing the best I can and never give up because you always start at the bottom at one point in your life, and you can only go up from there.

Thank you for showing me the true value of love, and friendship. You have proved to me that life isn't about money, and it definitely is not about the materialistic things. Life is about the people you surround yourself with and the love you have for them. You can't keep a friendship if you do not treat people how you want to be treated. It is truly important to value those things over anything else.

Thank you for showing me that life is an adventure. Dad, without you I wouldn't have had the strength in me to realize what else is out there for me. Because of you I have had so many amazing experiences in travel, and being open to new things. Your constant push to get myself out there really helped me see my true potential and to realize there is always more to life.

So thank you, Dad, because without you I would never be where I am today. I am forever grateful for everything you have taught me, and done for me. No matter what I do in life will never make up for everything you have done. I aspire to be the person you are one day. You are truly appreciated.

I love you dad,

Thank you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
