1. When someone cute walks in on the first day of class and you make it your mission to talk to them before the semester is over…

Everyone has had a crush on someone in one of their classes and it’s always a goal to make some contact with them before time runs out and the semester is over.

2. When that cute someone asks you to borrow a pencil…

Even if it’s something as simple as asking for a pencil or asking what day it is, you feel like you’ve accomplished a great feat and you couldn’t be happier.

3. When you look at the syllabus on the first day and see that there is a presentation…

Even if you say presentations don’t bother you, you’re lying. They’re the worst thing to ever happen to classes in the history of all classes ever.

4. When the you're in a class only because you need the credit and don’t care at all what the professor is saying…

It is the absolute worst when you have to take an elective class for credit and you have no interest at all in the subject. All you can do is stare off into space and count down the minutes until you’re free.

5. When the professor calls on you and you get the answer right...

It’s every students worst nightmare when the professor calls on you and you don’t know the answer, but when you do, you feel like you’re the smartest kid in school.

6. When your professor catches you on your phone…

Phone policies differ from class to class, but it’s awful when you’re in a class with a strict “no phones” rule and the professor catches you.

7. When you know you should be studying for an exam but you keep getting sidetracked by everything and anything on the Internet…

Whether it’s cute puppy videos on Facebook, relatable memes on Tumblr or your favorite show on Netflix, it’s always hard to remove yourself and start studying.

8. When you look at an exam and know absolutely nothing and just accept failure...

Whether it be a lack of studying or you just “blank out,” sometimes you have to accept defeat and move on.

9. When you’re one of the last ones taking an exam in class...

Even though the professor always say “don’t rush, take your time” you still feel like you’re doing something wrong when you’re one of the last ones in the room when taking an exam.

10. When you see that your grade was posted on Blackboard but you’re freaking out because you don’t know how you did...

There’s no worse feeling than when you have absolutely no idea how you did on an exam. That moment you’ve been waiting for is here but you’re too scared to even look so you just continue to freak out until you gain the courage to log in and find out.

11. When you study extremely hard for an exam and your hard work actually pays off…

It’s the best feeling in the world when all the sleepless nights and hours in the coffee shop pay off and you achieve a grade worth being proud of!

12. When you’re shocked after thinking you failed an exam but still receive an awesome grade...

It’s an even better feeling when you don’t study for an exam and are beyond nervous to get your grades back, but in the end you get an even better grade than when you did study. You’re definitely shocked, but who cares?! You’re awesome!

13. When the Professor says, “Oh! And one more thing…” with 10 seconds of class left...

We’ve all been in that “just hurry up, I need to get out of here” situation in a class that we dread being in for more than two minutes, let alone two hours. Then, right when you think you’re about to be dismissed and the teacher keeps you even longer, you just about want to cry.

14. When you get an email that your last class before the weekend is cancelled…

YASSSSS!

15. When you have class with your best friend…

Having class with your best friend is the absolute, well, best. They’re there to make fun of you when you mess up when presenting and don’t do well on an exam. BUT, they're also there to celebrate when you get questions right when called on and when you rock quizzes and exams…

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
