8 Times Phil Dunphy Of 'Modern Family' Was Exactly Like Your Dad

Oh Dad, you're so "Dad."

Oh, there are millions of funny and embarrassing "Dad" jokes, texts, conversations and much more that mostly everyone has experienced, ones in which our mother's don't quite seem to do. Thanks to Phil Dunphy and "Modern Family" we can now openly show our fathers and praise them for how interesting they actually are. (Love you, Dad!)

1. He tries to be "hip and cool" with all the slang and vocabulary of us teens.

Most parents try to make their children think that they are just as popular and up-to-date with technology as we are, which is very much not true, but it's funny to see them attempt to seem cool. Especially when they end their text messages to us with, "Love, Dad!"

2. He also tries to relate to our interests, maybe to find something to talk about.

Just go back to reading your newspaper, Dad, it's OK. And now I know where I get my dance moves from.

3. He's never really in charge, nor does he know what is going on.

Dad's always the one who doesn't know where everyone is, where your next planned vacation is taking place, nor does he remember the names of the people who you've been friends with for most your life.

4. He doesn't take things as seriously as your mom does.

While your mom is worried about what you might be doing out at 1 a.m., the only thing your dad is worried about is what his next move on "Candy Crush Saga" might be.

5. He thinks that his jokes are the funniest jokes anyone has ever heard.

There have been so many instances where your dad thought he said something funny and looks around at the rest of your family to get approval for his joke, but no one is laughing so his smirk leads to an awkward and disappointed frown.

6. But then sometimes he doesn’t realize how unintentionally funny he is being.

Sometimes there are moments when you look back and realize how clueless your father actually is and question how he is has a legitimate job and has survived the real world.

7. His advice for you is not up to Mom's par.

I guess Dad's advice for the real world is a little different than what Mom's would be in that Mom would go to the more serious route of "do your homework, be kind, be confident, believe in yourself," whereas dad would say "remember to always make sure you are refrigerating your yogurt."

8. And of course, he can't do his job as a dad without being embarrassing.

Whether it's funny outfits, weird dance moves, trying to hold your hand in public, it's a little too easy for your dad to embarrass you, and it seems like that is his main priority in life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
