Halloween is right around the corner, and I know a lot of you ladies are not all fully set on your costumes yet. But I’ve come up with a few last-minute costume ideas. You might even have some of these accessories or statement pieces in your wardrobe already. So look around, ladies, you may have found your potential costumes right down here!
1. An Artist (Group Bonus)
Aka the simplest and cutest costume ever. It is so unique and you’re destined to win a DIY costume contest. All you need is an oversized white shirt and find some paint lying around and create random strokes on your shirt. If you’re trying to enhance it, just cut out a cardboard palette that you can carry around and put different colored samples of paint on it. Wear a beret and voila, you’re a French artist.
2. Miss Piggy
Do you have a white dress lying around in your closet? Whip it out and get a pink boa, make some pink pig's ear and a nose and you're set. If you want to add some extra oomph, whip out your long white prom gloves and add some jewels.
3. Gumball Machine
So this is my roommate Lani, and I actually helped make her costume. She found a black bandeau just lying around her drawer and a plain black mini skirt. She bought colored pompoms, glue, red duct tape and a silver sharpie. She put on the bandeau and I measured the width of where we were going to place the pompoms so her arms moving from side to side wouldn't brush them off. She also tried on the skirt (right before going out) and duct taped around the skirt, ensuring she would not get out of the skirt that night (we wound up cutting her out of it.) Then I just drew on the 25 cents and the little dispenser box and she was ready to party!
4. WrestleMania Diva
This has been on my list for a year now. I always wanted to do it in college because it's super unique but still very cute and relatable. You literally just need silver spandex, a black crop top and the WrestleMania belt. You can even make one on your own with aluminum foil, or you can go into the little kids' section at Walmart and pick it up. No biggie. It'll be a man fave and a kid fave costume. Win-win!
5. Construction Worker
Also a man fave! This costume is masculine but with a little sprucing up, you'll be ready to knock the socks out of these boys! Just head down to a tractor supply store and pick up the construction worker vest. You can pair it with some black spandex shorts and a black bandeau. Or you can go the route my friends did in the picture and use caution tape and wrap it around you like a bandeau! If you want to go even further, get the protective glasses and a hard hat, and you'll be ready to drill yourself into some trouble.
6. "Risky Business"/Frat Boy
So you can kind of go off of the other with these two costumes. The first picture is "Risky Business" and all you need is a white collared shirt. I suggest you ask any of your guy friends to lend you one since you want it baggy enough to wear as a dress. You then can put on some high socks, sneakers and sunglasses and you're ready to chill at home like Tom Cruise. The second picture is a frat boy. People usually wear colored collared shirts as dresses, which is another item you'll need to borrow, and also a cap that you wear backwards. Super easy and super cute, no worrying needed!
7. Victoria's Secret Angel
If you're trying to keep it sassy and classy, I say go with this look! I know you have a silk robe in your closet, girl, so whip it out and wear it like the angels do.
8. A Raver
Whether it's EDC or Coachella, you know the people that go to these events have sick and creative costumes, so why not use that creative energy into making one for Halloween. If you want to save your goodies for the actual concerts, then just wear some high-waisted shorts, decorate a bra with a whole bunch of flowers and gems, and get yourself a flower headband, and you're are now the free-spirited girl you always were. Top it off with putting rhinestones in cute patterns on your face!9. Hula Girl
Get your most floral bikini top and get a cheap grass skirt and lei from Party City and you're ready to get your Ohana on!
10. Liquor Bottles
This is actually one I'm doing with my suitemates. Not only is it a great solo costume but it's even more fun with a group! You just need a dress that's the color of the certain bottle you want to be. For instance, I'm going to be Patron so I'm wearing a white dress. Since Patron has a green ribbon around the top, I bought a 55-cent lime-green lei and I'm pairing it with the dress. I'm printing out the Patron label and I'm ready to hand out some shots!
Hopefully, this year you gals have a blast on Halloween! Remember to stay safe and make the best time out of it. You only have four years to really go all out in college, so make it worthwhile!
