Living Life As Told By The Cast Of Spongebob Squarepants

Life is something never to be taken for granted. I'm sitting down, thinking about my life down the line 20 or 30 years later. But, as a college student, I'm also thinking about life right now. At the moment, I can't take my foot off the gas and slow down. I would love to slow things down.

Time is always the enemy in the human mind. It affects our decision making immediately. Short term and long term. We become so fixated on time, we are afraid of what we want to do in life. So while thinking about my life, I ran into some friends. SpongeBob and the crew came to stop by. They were telling me these stories that happened in their lives. I should be living life differently. They told me exactly this:

1. "I'm absorbing his blows like I was made of some spongey material." -Spongebob

Told you I can do it! Life is going to give you unexpected problems along the way. Whether it's a break up, taking a final, work, or any other thing. My friend told me that if you keep going and toughen up during those rough times in life, you'll be fine. No one will be able to touch your overcoming of a struggle. Thank you my dude!

2. "I LOVE YOU." -Patrick

If you can't love yourself, nobody is going to love you. I don't know what love feels like, but Patrick smiled at me when he had his bag of chocolates. Loving yourself is a major key to embracing life at the fullest. What's so wrong about being you? Absolutely nothing.

3. "The only culture he has is in his tennis shoe. Heh, tennis shoe. Heh, heh, I crack myself up." -Squidward

Confidence is the thing people need to make themselves shine. Anytime. Anywhere. I know Squidward has swag. I wonder if you do?

4. "Not when I shift into maximum overdrive." -Plankton

He may not be the nicest of people, but he is preaching facts here. When you are in that "mode", you aren't playing games. Do you want something? Go get it! Nobody can stop you from what you want in life. You're in maximum overdrive.

5. "If you want to be my friend, just be yourself." -Sandy

Beautifully orchestrated Sandy. That's the only way to put it. Friends come and go in life. The ones who are really your friends will know and respect you for you. I'll guarantee that your greatest of friends in life are those kinds.

6. "What I Learned in Boating School is... (What I Learned in School is) -Mrs. Puff

School teaches us everything even though we cannot stand it. We learn the fundamentals of life from our teachers. Respect. Dedication. How to write a cover letter and resume. The list continues. Thank you Mrs. Puff for your kind words.

7. "Ow! My leg." -My leg guy A.K.A. Fred

After all of these years, I've done some research and I finally came across this guy. Even if it's him saying "Ow. My leg" a thousand times. Life is going to have pain in it regardless. It isn't pretty sometimes and that's okay. Just don't blame your struggles on others or your legs.

8. EEEEEVVVIILLL!!!! -Mermaid Man

There are just some people out there that are just selfish, mean, and disrespectful. Mermaid Man, being the superhero he is, takes out Evil as his night job. I'm sure DJ Khaled was influenced by him. "They" don't want you to win. "They" are evil.

9. "Well, if I was a robot, which I'm not, at least I'm well put together. Not some rusted out, steam-driven piece of junk." -Mr. Krabs

The old man has a point. Be the best you can be. Be well put together. Go above and beyond. Life is going to make you keep your head up, regardless of scenario. You have to be strong. Armor Abs Krabs, you've done it again.

10. "I'm ugly and I'm proud." -SpongeBob

There is a method to my madness for this quote. SpongeBob didn't look his happiest here when he said this for the first time. His message was nice and clear for the society we live in today. But, Take that gender norms! Embrace your inner beauty like my pal here and you'll be in great shape! Be proud of who you are. Be happy with yourself. You will look at the world differently.

11. "ME HOY MINOY!" -DoodleBob

This quote is used for your interpretation. He originally said this in an aggressive behavior towards SpongeBob. People have to be "positive aggressive", meaning you affect the world positively, not hurting others. You make others around you better. It doesn't get any better than that.

The cast of SpongeBob gave me some wise words to take in. I'm taking those words and using them well. We are put on this planet to do well. I'm going to pass their wisdom on to you. The way you live life is a glimpse of who you are. Enjoy.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
