Have you ever been made fun of because you speak “funny” or “cute”? Aren’t you tired of hearing that? It seems like every time you speak, someone has to say something about it. Because of this, you watch out and think about what you are going to say before the words spill out of your mouth, yet there are times when you feel way too comfortable around people or are careless and well your accent comes out. Whether you’re from a different country or from a different state, know that you’re not the only one when this happens. So here are a few of the things people with accents know all too well:

1. OMG YOUR ACCENT IS SO CUTE!

You get this a lot. When you’re talking with your friends, coworkers, or even worse…New people. You will accidentally slip and BAM your accent comes out and they’ll say “OH MY GOSH YOUR ACCENT IS SO CUTE!!! I wish I had an accent like you!” and you just stand there awkwardly thinking to yourself: No… not this again… And trust me, you do not want an accent no matter how cute you think it is. It’s a pain in the butt sometimes.

2. Please say *insert word or phrase that sounds different when you say it here*

How about…. No? Why would I want to repeat something that embarrassed me? You might find it cute or funny, but we don’t. I’m pretty sure I turn beet red when people say this to me. Not form anger but more out of embarrassment.

3. When you order at a restaurant you have to repeat yourself a million times

If you’re with your friends you usually tell them to order for you and if you’re by yourself you thoroughly think every single word you’re about to say to this complete stranger who may or may not talk about the way you said “pickle” or “cookie” to his or her coworkers after you leave.

4. You avoid going through drive through at all costs

This is a restricted area. We do not speak of drive through nor do we think about it. If you have an accent and actually order through drive through without having to repeat yourself several times and actually getting your order right, then we salute you! You’re doing great things my friend!

5. When you’re angry there’s no way to stop it, it just comes out

There’s no way of stopping it, honestly. If you ever go off on someone or any of the sort, you might not be taken seriously because your accent will come out and they’ll laugh or say “I can’t take you seriously you sound so adorable when you’re mad with your accent.”

6. You get embarrassed at times because it sounds like you said something else

I would just like to say that I am deeply sorry for the times any of you, the people that actually know me or have talked to me before, have thought that I said something inappropriate at random times. I promise it was not my intention I swear I was trying to say “my shirt” not… well… you know.

7. You pray that you don’t get called to read during class

You heard the theme song from Psycho whenever your professor/teacher announces that everyone is going to be reading from the book out loud in class. This means everyone, people that you know, your professor, even people you don’t even talk to will hear you speak.

8. But you know what? It’s okay because people of the opposite sex totally dig it

Let’s face it, even though having an accent can seem like the worst thing in the world you should embrace it and be glad that people of the opposite sex dig accents. Don’t let it stop you from shinning bright like a diamond so embrace your accent and carry on!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
