Here we are, December of 2015. This is the end. We have made it another year. We did everything from school events to working, hanging with friends, and who knows even had a marriage happen here and there. No matter what, we are all looking back and thinking about if we are satisfied with everything we accomplished this year or if we should have done more. Let me assure everyone reading this; you did not accomplish it all. You never will. That's the beauty of life. It goes on. Just as life goes on, we must go with it.
Throughout our lives, we will stumble across quotes that we live by until the next best quote comes around that we can relate to. When we do this we allow this quote to represent our lives. Looking back on your past year of life, stop and think about how much you have accomplished and how happy you are with your life, friends, and family. Think of these quotes and remember it's a new year which means a new you.
1. "We were born to be real not perfect." - Unknown
Just as the quotes states: we were born to be real not perfect. Throughout the years, we learn who we are and what we want to do. By doing this, it makes you feel more real because you're expressing yourself. You also learn who your real friends are. They are the ones who have supported you since day one of your newest, wildest dream. Your family is also there and they know the real you. No one expects anyone to be perfect because, if everyone was perfect, there would be no fun in this world.
2. "Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place." - Unknown
Everyone was born to be who they were meant to be. Many get caught up in the glitz and glamour in life and forget that they have their own personal beauties about themselves that no one else will every get to have. We spend all year trying to impress others, or ourselves, and sometimes you need to just take a step back and remember who you are and what you have done to become this person. Because when we remember who we are, we remember our goals, wants, and needs.
3. "In the end we only regret the chances we didn't take." - Unknown
We are humans. We have wants and needs that we all desire to accomplish before we leave this Earth. Go out there and buy the shirt that you've been dying to have. Call your boss and tell him or her that you're taking two weeks off, go to Europe, and take pictures of all of the beauty. Live in the moment. Don't let it pass you by.
4. "Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth." - Unknown
Life is about being happy. Don't let life stress you out and ruin you and your beautiful smile. No one has time to be unhappy. We are only given so many days on this Earth, so why waste a single day being unhappy?
5. "It is up to you to see the beauty in everyday life." - Unknown
We have beauty that surrounds us every day we are alive. We see it on every street corner in the city, in the woods, and in our own homes. Beauty is the people around you: the couple taking a picture next the The Bean in Chicago, the little girl holding a puppy, or the artist painting on the wall of a building. No one can show you this beauty but yourself. The beauty you see defines who you are as a person and what represents you.
6. "Some days you have to create your own sunshine." - Sam Sundquist
We all have our off days, but when they become the main focus in life, we suddenly always feel like it's raining. Those are the type of days you need to remember what you have accomplished and what the next goal is. Focus on that and keep pushing through.
7. "Some people are so poor all they have is money." - Patrick Meagher
Don't spend all your life focusing on being the richest man on Earth. Even with all the money in the world it still wouldn't make you feel as rich as others do. Happiness is the purest, richest thing you could ever acquire in life. Pursue that goal and you'll never be poor.
8. "Hakuna Matata." - Timon and Pumba
As many know, "It means no worries, for the rest of your days." It's Timon and Pumba's philosophy. Relax and don't allow stress to run your life. Always allow yourself to take a moment to breathe and remember what you want to be and what you want to do.
9. "It's not what you do. It's why you do it." - David Ewald
You could do many things in life, but why do it? Do things that you would be proud of. Help those who you believe need help. Why? In your heart you know it's the right thing to do, and you do it because it makes you happy and thankful for the life you have.
10. "May you always do what you are afraid to do." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
There will always be thing in life that will scare us. There will be things in life we swear we will never do even if our life depends on it. I hope you do all the things you never said you'd do. Life was meant to be lived to the fullest. Step outside your comfort zone and try something to new.
11. "A simple hello could lead to a million things." - Unknown
We have all seen the movie where the boy and girl run into each other, she drops her books, and he helps pick them up. Then their eyes meet, they smile and say hello, and then suddenly this long crazy romance begins. That could happen to you. Maybe not in romance but life in general. You never know -- just saying hello could lead to a job interview, a new friendship, or maybe even a new romance if that's what you really want. No matter what, it could change your life. Give it a try.
12. "Every time you get upset at something, ask yourself if you were to die tomorrow, was it worth wasting your time and energy being angry?" - Robert Tew
There is no promise that tomorrow won't be your last day. There is no promise you will be where you are right now once tomorrow comes around. So why spend a moment mad, sad, or upset? Who knows what will be going on in your life by this time tomorrow. You may be half way across the world and never get to say you're sorry before you go.
13. "Make every minute count." - Unknown
We were not given a set amount of time on Earth. We weren't even given an end goal before we leave. Make sure you get to do everything you wanted to do while you are here. Be happy with your choices and memories Make the moments count before you are suddenly counting your last moments here on Earth.
14. "At the end of a year remember the good and leave the rest. Know it just gets better and better." - A. Monika
365 days. That is a lot of memories. Memories that you will keep with you forever. There will be some good and some bad. That's okay because it helps remind you that you are a better you today compared to yesterday, and tomorrow you'll be an even better you because you get stronger everyday and learn from you mistakes. It just keeps getting better.
15. "Life is the sum of all your choices" - Albert Camus
At the end of the day, everything about you resembles your life: your memories, the shirt tucked under your bed that you got when you snuck off one weekend to go to the beach with your friends, the picture in your wallet of you and your best friend taking a ridiculous picture with a puppy. Make the moments good and think about the choices you make. At the end of the year, you will look back at who you've been to who you are now and think, "A new year means a new me."
