Millions of people anxiously awaited the return of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthology horror television series, "American Horror Story," for its fifth season. Many of the show's fans were devastated when beloved starring actress of the fourth previous AHS seasons, Jessica Lange, announced her departure from the show. The show's writer and producer knew he had to find a replacement that would measure up to the standards Lange had set, and that he did!
The series caught the attention of many new viewers when producer, Ryan Murphy, announced that Lady Gaga would be joining the AHS family. Lover of all weird and abnormal things, Lady Gaga seemed like a perfect fit for the show. The show had a total of 5.807 million viewers tuned in for the premiere of the fifth season. Filled with arresting imaging, this season, subtitled Hotel, takes place in current day Los Angeles. The story follows the guests and the staff of the haunted Hotel Cortez.
The show's writer and producer promised the AHS fans that this season would be filled with more dominant male roles and more gory content, and that it would be bloodier than any of the past seasons--and it has been thus far. The main route "AHS: Hotel" has been taking is straight to murder. Whether it be the multiple dark entities that roam the hotel's halls or the hotel's residents committing the murders, it seems like every guest that checks into Hotel Cortez fails to make it out alive. I fail to see the male-dominant roles, since the show has been predominately lead by females thus far. Maybe we'll get more dominant male roles as the season continues to unfold?
And as for the Gaga hype? It definitely has simmered down. We get little to no dialogue from The Countess, Lady Gaga's character. All we know about her thus far is that she is the owner of the hotel, has a wardrobe that any girl would yearn for, and that she is, apparently, a vampire. Now that's an interesting spin! Hopefully, as the season's storyline continues to further develop, so will Gaga's lines.
