The Reality Of Packing For College

The time for school is here and now, and quite frankly I’m just not ready for that commitment. Although packing is actually the most frustrating thing in the world, it has to be done, and this list is the reality of my packing experiences.

  1. Create a mindset that you’ll get everything done in 2 hours tops.
  2. Turn on your fave Netflix show for some background noise.
  3. Make some cookies to snack on while watching.
  4. Open your suitcase.
  5. Click next episode.
  6. Throw in a pair of shoes to the suitcase.
  7. Decide you need a drink break... (Wine preferably)
  8. Throw every t-shirt you own into one suitcase, cause that’s the designated suitcase for your prize possessions.
  9. Take a drink while singing the opening song of “Orange is the New Black.”
  10. 10. Close the suitcase.
  11. 11. Give yourself a reward, like another glass of wine.
  12. 12. Call your best friend to come help you pack.
  13. 13. Make more cookies, brownies, also margaritas.
  14. 14. Realize your friend didn’t actually come for help, but for the alcohol.
  15. 15. Shove your pillow pet, sweat pants, and shot glasses in the suitcase and boom.
  16. 16. Lastly, get in the mindset that you’re actually not going to get anything done.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
