12 Signs Spring Break Is Close

Spring break is right around the corner, and if you're like me, you cannot wait for the week off of school. Spring break is almost two or more months after Christmas break; no wonder we need some time off! Most of us are ready to get rid of the cold weather and bring on the warm spring weather. We'd rather be at the beach or hiking trails than sitting in class writing papers with our nose in a book. Here are a few signs that you know you're ready for Spring break.

1. You talk about your Spring Break plans often.

What are y'all going to do? Where will y'all stay? Who's meeting us when?

2. You slack off in school, or at anything else.

No, I really do not want to go to your brother's girlfriend's cousin's play for extra credit on this assignment.

3. You've already been Spring break shopping.

New swim suits? Got it. New beach cover ups? Got those too. Cute and dressy day/night outfits? You name it.

4. You procrastinate, a lot.

Yes, my paper is due today, and yes, I'm still working on it.

5. You think about the cool adventures you'll have during class.

Parasailing over the Bahamas...a girl can dream.

6. You need more sleep.

Isn't this always the case? All those late nights to finish a paper or study or just to go on a late night Sonic run. Those late nights start to add up.

7. You are tired of cold weather.

No, I do not like waking up to 30-degree weather. I am ready for the sun rays.

8. You look at your bank account and pray your parents will give you some spending money.

Mom? Dad? Please?

9. You look down at your legs and you are blinded by their paleness.

Some of us might be hitting the tanning bed so our legs don't burn, and we don't blind the other beach users.

10. You create a music playlist.

Of course, you need the latest tunes for your car ride or your time at the beach.

11. You work on your "beach bod".

You may hate it while you do it, but afterwards, it makes you feel awesome and productive.

12. You have a spring break countdown.

Two weeks and 16 days, but who's counting?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
