Nine Changes I Noticed Before And After Going To College

1. What success means.

Before: Getting a 4.0, graduating, always being busy and successful, and landing a great job or grad school.

After: Doing what makes me happy, and not caring what other people think.

2. Interactions with family.

Before: I hate my family. I can't wait to get out of here and never come back. My siblings are so annoying and I will hate them forever.

After: MOM AND DAD, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. Thank you for everything you have ever done for me, and I am sorry I was such a brat. Please forgive me. I love you so much. And siblings, I love you and I miss you so much!!

3. Life goals.

Before: I am going to be a doctor!

After: Yeah, I am definitely not going to be a doctor. Great, now what.

4. Relationship goals.

Before: I can't wait for all the hot, random hookups!

After: Ugh, I am so ready to find a guy who I can actually enjoy sober.

5. Laundry.

Before: Ew, this shirt touched the floor. Mom, please wash!?

After: Hmm, this shirt has been on the floor, but there don't appear to be visible stains. Whatever. Perfume is a beautiful thing.

6. Sorority life.

Before: Aw! I can't wait to live with a ton of girls and always have someone to workout with and do nails with and do homework with!

After: Leave. Me. Alone.

7. Mom's cooking.

Before: Ugh! Tuna noodle casserole again!?

After: YES, OMG THANK YOU. I LOVE YOUR TUNA NOODLE CASSEROLE.

8. Party life.

Before: Oh my gosh, I drank half a beer! I am so drunk!

After: Oh my gosh, I drank a whole beer! I am so drunk!

9. Hair and makeup.

Before: Straightened, always. Or at least done cute, and nobody will ever see me without mascara and eyeliner on ever again.

After: What is makeup? Messy bun, third time this week. Don't judge me.

So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
