What’s a girl to do when it seems like all of the most promising celebrity couples of our time are splitting up? With the divorce rumors of Brangelina and the confirmed rumor that Ben Affleck and Jen Garner are splitting, how can one stay sane in a world of failing marriages? It’s hard enough to even get a guy to take you to Chipotle let alone maintain a stable relationship. How bad is the current state of relationships in this world if a couple like Ben and Jen can't stay together?
We’ve all watched as Ben Affleck dated many powerful and beautiful women, like JLo and Gwyneth Paltrow, until he met the one that everyone thought would steal his heart forever — Jennifer Garner, the gorgeous and sweet actress that we fell in love with after watching "13 Going on 30" about 1000 times.
The second Garner and Affleck announced their divorce, girls' group messages were blowing up all over the world. After all, they were the perfect power couple, him being the handsome Academy Award winner that women drool over and her being the doting mother and adorable girl next door.
Bennifer II was even able to maintain their grace and class as a couple going through something as difficult as divorce. They announced their divorce to the press on June 30 stating, "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."
So when a couple like that breaks up, is there really any hope for the rest of us? I mean, c’mon, they had three perfect children, copious amounts of money, annoying good looks, and they still couldn’t keep it together after 10 years of marriage. The rest of us mere humans could only admire their perfect relationship from afar while they jet set to their private chateau in the Bahamas.
Sure, their downfall could’ve been caused by the pressure that revolves around the life of being a celebrity, constantly being bombarded by paparazzi and having your name printed in magazines all over the world; but I really did think that Bennifer II was the one that would last. I guess it’s time for the rest of us to give up and call it quits. As for me, I’m praying that I will have a lot of cute cats when I’m older.
