Romantic Spots On Pepperdine's Campus

There is a reason why ring by spring is so popular on Pepperdine.

We are close to Valentine's Day and/or Forever Alone Day. Some of you may be in a relationship, "talking with someone," committed, engaged (ring by spring), FWB, "hooking-up", "I don't know but we should DTR," dating Netflix, dating Ben and Jerry, dating Franzia, etc. If you have an S/O or even if you want to be alone Pepperdine has several romantic spots.

1. The classic "DTR bench"

Some people go to the DTR bench to define their relationship, others just go there to start a new one. There are several DTR benches on the Freshman Dorms, but I recommend you to go to the one outside Darnell because it has ocean view.

2. Alumni Park

The Alumni Park oversees the Pacific Ocean. It is perfect for engagement pictures, wedding pictures, cute couple pictures or if you are afraid of commitment it is also great for enjoying ice cream when you don't want to see anyone.

3. Heroes Garden

This is one of my favorite spots on campus. This place just has an amazing energy. It has a great view, and it is great for deep conversations or for deep thoughts.

4. Garden above the pool

You may have walked around here a bunch of times, but have you really stopped and enjoyed it? You can take your S/O here and enjoy some vitamin D from the sun and take a dip into the pool or the hot tub.

5. The Chapel

For those who are afraid of commitment or think that it's going to be a lot time until you get married, I know the words "chapel" and "S/O" can freak you out –– but honestly the Chapel has amazing glass mosaics that will take your breath away. In addition, since you are in a chapel there is not going to be that much talking so you wont need to worry about awkward silence.

6. Law School Library

I know libraries can give you nightmares, but when you study at the Law School Library it doesn't even feel like studying. You can enjoy of an amazing ocean view, and it is not as crowded as Payson Library. You can invite your S/O on a study date here.

7. Tables between Greek row and freshman dorms

This tables are a perfect escapade from your roommates, friends and other distractions that would prevent you from enjoying your S/O's company. You can enjoy an amazing view, shadow from trees and a nice breeze.

8. Hike to the Cross

I've personally never hiked to the Cross, but a lot of my friends that are in relationships have hiked here. It is a great bonding experience while you exercise with your S/O. Since you are both hiking you can decide to talk or just to enjoy the view.

9. Frederick R. Wiesman Museum of Art

For those who don't know Pepperdine has a museum on campus. If your S/O is into art or you just want to take them to a place that looks sophisticated, but you are a "broke college student," this is the perfect place to take your date.

10. Balcony outside the Sandbar

This is one of my favorite spots on campus. It is near main campus so it doesn't involve a lot of walking, and you can enjoy of a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. It is a quiet space where you can have a date without distractions. There is not that many people there so you will have the right amount of privacy.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
