10 Things You Do During The Last Week Of School

Winter break is a great time to spend relaxing and seeing the family, but you miss being at school and seeing all your friends. The last week home is a bitter sweet time where you are getting ready to go back to school but have to say goodbye to all that winter break has blessed you with.

1. Packing. The most dreaded part of leaving is always having to somehow squeeze everything into your bag. You always have more than you came with and have to figure out how to create extra space for it all.

2. Eating. Before going back to the dreaded dining commons you need to go to your favorite sushi restaurant and have a few more of Mom's homemade meals.

3. Laundry. We all know that we won't be doing our own at school, until we have nothing else to wear so we might as well ask for Mom to do one more load before departing.

4. Catch up on Netflix. This way you will be caught up for your next Netflix and chill date at school.

5. Snuggle your dog. Since this will obviously be your hardest goodbye, spend as much time possible smothering your pup with love.

6. See your old friends. Even though we all made new friends away at college it is always fun to reunite with your old friends.

7. Sleeping. The final week that you can actually sleep for however long and marinate in bed without having class or anything that will give you a good enough reason to move all day.

8. Traveling. Most people go somewhere for the holidays, but this is the last time you can road trip with friends or alone to places nearby. You can go to the nearest city or even a winter time trip to the shore.

9. Free nice alcohol. Drink up. It is the last week you can mooch off of your parents and get all that left over wine off of their hands from the holidays. Once you are back at school you'll realize you don't have the money to drink anything but the cheap stuff.

10. Seeing your friends in a week! By the end of this week you'll be sad to go due to the fact that you have to leave home and all these wonderful things. But then, it hits you- school is right around the corner and you are more than ready to head back to college.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
