Dutch Bro's: Why It's The best!

Dutch Bro’s Coffee is like no other. If you think Starbucks drive thru’s are convenient, you should visit a Dutch Bro’s stand! The coffee is delicious, the employees are friendly, and the service is always quick! Like a lot of college students, I drink coffee like water. I visit Dutch Bro’s at least once a day and have yet to have a bad experience! Unfortunately most of their locations are in the Pacific Northwest but if you’re anywhere near one make sure to go! Here’s why Dutch Bro’s Coffee is the best:

1.Drive Thru. Just pull right up to the window and order! It’s so convenient especially if you live in Oregon where it rains most of the time! If there’s a line, one of the employees is usually outside taking orders. By the time you get to the window to pay your drink is ready for you!

2.Every 11th cup of coffee is free! They have a rewards stamp card and you earn 1 stamp for every drink you buy! Let me tell you, those add up quickly! It’s always nice going to your favorite coffee shop and not having to pay!

3.Customer Service. If they make your drink wrong, they will remake it quickly and with no hassle! The employees always are upbeat and friendly no matter the time of day! Usually, they are singing and listening to great music! You can tell that they really enjoy their job!

4.Cute colored straws. Who doesn’t love a hot pink straw in your cup of coffee! They have blue, orange, yellow, red, pink, and green! Rumor has it that these straw colors mean something! I’ve been told the pink straw means you're “cute” so it’s always fun to go with a group of friends and see who gets the pink straw! Check out #pinkstraw on twitter and you’ll understand the importance!

5.Large menu selection. The baristas can pretty much make you any flavor drink! From a raspberry mocha to a “snickers” coffee, the selection is unreal and you can customize anything! If you are unsure what to order, the baristas will gladly surprise you with something delicious! They also have smoothies and flavored “rebels” which is their version of an energy drink!

6.Quotes on the lids. There is always a message written on the top of the lids! The messages are always positive like “Today is yours. Own it” or “smile.”

7.Location. There is one relatively close to both sides of the University of Oregon campus! The hut-like stands are conveniently located throughout the town! All of them are walk up or drive-thru so its easy to get your coffee and go!

8.Coupons! Usually you can find the Dutch Bro’s coupons around campus in the coupon books like Chegg Deals! They offer any $2 medium drink and buy one get one free! As a college student, nothing is better than a delicious coffee drink that’s affordable!

9.They always give back to the community. This Valentine’s Day, if you bring canned food you get a free drink! The food is donated back to the community! Free coffee and doing good, what more could you ask for!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
