11 Signs You're From Gainesville, Texas

Gainesville, Texas is the home of 16,030 people, give or take. Gainesville is the Front Porch of Texas and Most Patriotic Small Town in America located in North Texas with visitors every day because I-35 runs right through it. Growing up in Gainesville you start to realize there are some pretty distinctive qualities about this little town, and although there are many more, here are some ways you know you are from Gainesville, Texas:

1. Taco Casa is God sent.

Taco Casa sweet tea is the best tea in Gainesville and this place is ALWAYS packed.

2. Any time you go to Walmart, you are bound to run into at least five people you know.

Ah, Walmart, the place to be. It does not matter what time or what day you will definitely see everyone and their mother here.

3. You always get asked by out-of-towners what happened to the outlet mall.

One of the most common questions that any person from out of town asks is "What happened to your outlet mall?" This place went from packed to a dead zone within a very short amount of time and no one can believe it.

4. Every event that you have been to has most likely been held at the Civic Center.

From luncheons to proms almost every event is hosted at the Civic Center.

5. Homecoming is important to the entire town, not just the high schoolers.

The Gainesville Homecoming parade annually brings out many people in the town for everyone to celebrate together!

6. To celebrate any special occasion or to eat with a large group of friends the only place to go is Applebee’s.

Applebee's is one of the only big restaurants in town and for some reason every special occasion needs to be celebrated here.

7. No matter where you are in Gainesville you will hear the train.

The train is a constant battle here in Gainesville. You are always able to here and you will ALWAYS get caught by it when you are running late.

8. One of the most exciting things in high school are JEAN DAYS!

When your school has a uniform you tend to get excited by the simplest things like Jean Days! Every Friday you hoped you were able to wear jeans.

9. You are proud that Gainesville hosts the Medal of Honor veterans every year.

Nothing is more special than being the only host city in America for the Medal of Honor recipients.

10. You are always really excited for Depot Days, but also really angry that it always falls on the UT/OU game.

One of the biggest events in Gainesville is Depot Days! From car shows to face painting to vendors selling homemade goods every year Depot Days brings everyone from town. The only bad thing is that it falls on the biggest game in Texas: UT v. OU.

11. Once a leopard always a leopard.

Even after graduation and you move on to college or you decide to stay, no matter what once a leopard always a leopard.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
