Here at Ohio University, there have been a ton of changes in the past four years; new dorms, changed policies, renovated dining halls, and more construction than we can handle. Us seniors sometimes find ourselves sharing wars stories about the good ol' days "back when I was a freshman." Here are a few things that you can only understand if you are part of OU's Class of 2016.
1. Jeff Brunch
RIP cheesy potatoes.
2. Cutting through the parking lot that is now the new dorms to get to Ping.
Thanks Sowle Hall for adding three and a half minutes of pre-exercise to my workout.
3. ID's before the y{__}u branding.
Soon normal looking ID's will be extinct.
4. Fugitive Fest
Remember when they told us not to go anywhere because there was a shooter on campus? Then remember when we turned it into an excuse to drink.
5. The weirdness of being the first class on semesters instead of quarters.
The teachers had no idea what to do with five extra weeks of class and upperclassman complained about how much semesters sucked almost constantly.
6. Rio
TBT.
7. The excitement on campus the day that Obama was here.
That's right, underclassmen, the president was here and you were in English class in high school.
8. Jeff Wok
Jeff was just so good, I had to put it on the list twice.
9. Having to cover your shoulders at Ping.
That's right, if you wore a tank top, you got kicked off the ellipticals.
10. East Green under construction.
East Green was a hot mess freshman year.
11. Rocky Horror Picture Show at The Union.
Pre-Union Street fire.
12. Freeze Fest
They told us to "walk like a penguin" so we waddled all the way to the bars.
13. When Nelson was re-opened after its renovation.
Now everyone is like "mehhh, Nelson," but we were like "Wooo, Nelson!"
14. The sadness/happiness/anxiousness of knowing that we will be sitting in the Convo for graduation in three weeks.
It seems like it was just yesterday that we were listening to President McDavis welcome us to the bobcat family at freshman convocation.
Enjoy your last few weeks, bobcats!
