Whether you're an Atlanta old-timer or new to the city, you probably want to explore. Atlanta is one of the largest cities in the South with so much history, so you are never at a loss for something to do. Get your Marta Breeze Card ready and have fun!
Little Five Points
Little Five Points is a melting pot of bohemian cultures. There are amazing thrift shops, concert venues, and restaurants all on one street. When you visit Little Five Points you need to visit the awesome thrift store Rag-O-Rama. They have cute clothes in great condition for cheap prices! Another place you have to visit to fuel your vinyl addiction is Criminal Records. They have hundreds of records and a hip photo booth in the back of the store. If you're hungry, head to The Vortex! Unfortunately, in order to get into you have to be at least 21, but if you are lucky enough to be that old, the restaurant has the best burgers in Atlanta and was ranked top 30 on the list of best burgers in America.
Midtown
Midtown is my favorite place in Atlanta. You are never at a loss of things to do in Midtown. You can visit the High Museum of Art, which has some of the best art exhibits, and they are always changing them out to keep things fresh. The Fox Theatre is a great place to see concerts and plays. It has been around since the 1920's and has a beautiful interior. If you are looking for a pretty place to run or have a picnic, I suggest Piedmont Park. It is one of the largest parks in the South and is in the middle of a great city. Right next to the park is the Atlanta Botanical Gardens filled with hundreds of different types of flowers. Midtown is a beautiful part of the city and definitely worth a visit.
Downtown
Downtown Atlanta is so much fun but it can become a bit pricey. The Georgia Aquarium is the largest Aquarium in the world and in my opinion the best aquarium. They have the cutest otters and beluga whales. Tickets will set you back about $35 but it is definitely worth a visit. If you can only visit one restaurant in Atlanta, I suggest The Varsity. It is cheap and delicious, and they have amazing burgers (especially the famous Frosted Orange). Another place that you have to eat at is The West Egg Café. It can be pretty crowded in the morning because of people rushing in to get their delicious iced coffee, but if I could survive on one thing for the rest of my life it would be The West Egg Café's Belgium waffle. You will not regret it.
Buckhead
Buckhead is a very upscale part of Atlanta. Here you will find beautiful million dollar homes and expensive cars everywhere you go. There are two malls in Buckhead (Phipps and Lenox) that are within walking distance of each other. Both are very pricey but are great for splurging and people watching. Zac Efron and other celebrities have been known to pay a visit once in a while! A historic restaurant in Buckhead is the Buckhead Diner. This isn't the type of diner that serves cheap cheeseburgers; this is a very classy place that you should dress up for. Even if you can't afford anything on the menu, you should just go in for a milkshake because they are delicious and affordable. When you're waiting for your table, you can look at the wall of photos of famous people that have eaten there.
When exploring Atlanta, I suggest taking Marta because it goes all around the city and is only $2.50 per trip or $9.00 per day. Have fun!
