Osiris & Co. Is Revolutionizing The Way We Carry Cameras

Say "goodbye" to your camera neck strap forever.

"I just can't carry it around my neck. I feel like a tourist and it gets in the way."

My friend laughed and gave me a "sometimes I just don't get you" look. I looked down at my right arm, admiring the quadruple looped and twisted camera neck strap around my wrist, my trusty three pound DSLR hanging off the end.

However, just a week ago I was reminded that my haphazardly secured camera wasn't really foolproof. I was walking down the steps of a subway station and nearly had my camera take a fall down two flights of stairs. Luckily, my precious Canon was saved, thanks to a stranger with fast reflexes. As I swiped my subway card and let out a sigh of relief, I made a mental note to myself that I needed to find a better way to carry my camera by my wrist.

Just days later, one of my classmates and fellow photography enthusiast showed me his pretty little Osiris & Co. bracelet.

"You clip the camera to an extension cord, which clips back to the bracelet. See, now you're not going to need your neckstrap."

I eagerly ordered an Osiris system before the start of my next class. The concept seemed simple and obvious, but I had never come across quality camera gear like this before.

I have been gushing over my Osiris bracelet and clip, so I decided to interview the brain behind Osiris & Co., CEO and founder Eric Paez.

Who is involved in creating these products?

Right now we have a tight team of photographers who actually make each Osiris & Co. complete system (bracelet and clip) by hand as the orders come in.

What inspired you guys to create such a product?

We started up the brand to give photographers the products and services that they needed, which came easy since it was created by photographers for photographers.

What does Osiris & Co. aim to do in the future?

We want to expand our global reach and become integrated in stores across the nation and internationally as well. Also, we’re planning to release a few new photography-based products in the near future.

What advice or words of wisdom do you have for any college students who are aspiring entrepreneurs?

I’m 21 and this is the 3rd company I have opened since the age of 18. The biggest thing about starting a business or implementing an idea is taking the first step. Whether it's forming a business plan, buying raw materials, or going out and marketing yourself, it all starts with the first step. Most people don't take that first step because they’re afraid of making mistakes. Wake up each and every day trying to better yourself and your business. Surrounding yourself with those smarter then you and learning from the mistakes and achievements of others is priceless. One must fall before walking, and one must walk before running. All it takes is that first step.

All of the Osiris products are made with military-grade engineering.

Did I mention that they come in almost every color imaginable?

It seems like Osiris & Co. has hit the ground running, already hitting its global reach of clients in over 25 countries just 24 weeks after its official launch.

So thank you, Eric, for preventing me from looking like a camera-toting tourist in New York City and more importantly, kudos on making these products stylish, functional, and highly durable.

Photographers, rejoice and get shooting with some Osiris gear!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
