Growing up as a dancer, you learn a lot about yourself and the way your body works. I learned how to express myself and how to feel passionate about something, and it helped me learn who I was as a person. It's different for every person, but dance is known to make people feel things. Here are a few things that dance makes a person feel.
Dance makes you feel determination.
All the sprains, the breaks, the pain and the triumphs just make you push harder. When you can't seem to land a trick, you get up and try again because you know that eventually you can get it.
Dance makes you feel happy.
I use dance as an outlet because when I'm dancing, everything else goes away and all I can feel is the happiness and freedom it gives me.
Dance makes you feel like you can do anything.
When you land the open switch leap you've been practicing for years, you feel like you can literally fly. The best feeling is when you feel so weightless while dancing that you think you could conquer the world.
Dance makes you feel free.
You forget about all the relationship troubles, the tough school work and everything that may stress you. You feel completely free and feel like nothing else matters but your body and yourself.
Dance makes you feel emotion.
It lets you express whatever you are going through by dancing your heart out and letting it all go.
Dance makes you feel pain and embrace it.
I'm not talking about the sprained ankles and hurt knees, but taking that pain and making it feel better by expressing that pain through physical expression like dance.
Dance makes you feel love.
I fell in love with dance because it makes me feel beautiful, wanted, and it helps me get through anything and everything. Dance was my first love.
