Valentine's Day Eve: Galentine's Day

Valentine’s Day. Saturday. Break your bank day. Satan’s day of reigning. Whatever you want to call it. What are your plans?

Just kidding, no one cares. What you should care about, gals, is Feb. 13, a.k.a. Galentine’s Day. This is a holiday founded by "Parks & Recreation" character Leslie Knope in honor of lady friends. This is important.

According to the show, the holiday is spent with all of your closest lady friends, regardless of whether they are celebrating with the loves of their lives or mourning over a past/nonexistent relationship on Valentine’s Day. On Galentine’s Day, the only soulmates you need are the women in your presence. A day spent giving handmade gifts to show your affection, brunch, and women power. A lot of women power.

Celebrate with whichever festivities and in whatever attire you wish… possibly wear all black to go against the grain of bright reds and pinks. The main purpose of this event is to appreciate the friendships, independence and empowerment of women all over the world. What’s missing? Music. While you’re stuffing your face with copious waffles or getting ready to take on O Street make sure to accompany your night with the perfect Galentine’s Day playlist:

  • "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" by Shania Twain
  • "Irreplaceable"/"Run The World (Girls)" by Beyoncé – really any song by Beyoncé

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

Being a music major is not all kicks and giggles. In fact, there are days when I question my sanity and doubt myself as a musician. I know I am not the only one going through the struggle, and so here are 13 GIFs that I know my fellow music majors can relate to...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.
