The Music Festival season is officially here, marking the beginning of a season of great venues, fun clothing and lots and lots of good music. Music festivals have been the best way to see most of our favorite performers in a lively atmosphere. With more than 50 international music festivals happening every year, each with its exclusive line of artists and performers, it can leave us questioning with which ones are actually worth visiting.

Here is a run-down of the biggest and the best of music festivals all around the world:

1. Coachella

By far the most popular music festival in the world, Coachella is the perfect for sun-loving alternate music fans with hippie vibes. With popular performers like Rihanna, the Kardashians and Vanessa Hudgens, the festival is often called a Woodstock revival and marks the beginning of the music festival season. Held in the sunny desert valley of Indio, California, it is scheduled for April 15th this year with Guns n’ Roses, Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, Sia, Disclosure and many others performing in the 3 day event held for two consecutive weeks. Coachella is also highly covered by the media for its own style culture — focused around hair accessories and body art.

2. Glastonbury

The biggest music festival in the UK, Glastonbury caters to all musical preferences, and unlike other festivals, is popular for being more family friendly. It is one of the oldest, and one of the most renowned music festivals around the world and offers a wide range of genres and artists of all levels. Held in Somerset, England, the festival this year is to be held from June 22nd to June 26th and has the likes of Coldplay, Adele, Ellie Goulding, Disclosure, the National Symphony and Bastille in its lineup so far.

3. Tomorrowland

Held in Brazil and Belgium, Tomorrowland is the biggest electronic dance music festival in the entire world. With spectacular on-stage light engineering and some of the biggest household names in Electronic music, Tomorrowland is a special festival. Headliners such as Alesso, Hardwell and Avicii have performed in previous years. The Sau Paulo TomorrowLand will feature David Guetta and Afrojack from April 22nd, and the Belgium TomorrowLand will start on July 22nd, featuring similar artists.

4. Sunburn

One of the biggest music festivals in Asia, Sunburn Festival is the perfect mixture of music and cultural tourism, with an electronic dance music festival with the cultural experience of travelling to Goa. Goa’s characteristic vibrancy, lush beaches and warm weather has attracted a lot of music tourism it India, and Sunburn has been in the forefront of this, with artists like Avicii, Knife Party and Dimirti Vegas & Like Mike performing. Held in the month of December, Sunburn creates and exceptional experience with local Goan alcohol, having a charm that no other festival has.

5. HideOut


Held in a one-of-a-kind party island of Novalja off the Croatian coast, Hideout is the ideal festival for young millennials to party round the clock. With big names like Sigma and Duke Dumont headlining the festival, Hideout has become one of the most sought after festivals for the summer. The festival happens in June, which makes the occasion all the more appealing with endless pool and yacht parties.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
