7 Places In The Midwest You HAVE To Visit

People from all other regions of the U.S so often overlook the Midwest and its attractions. Personally, before I came to Missouri to attend college, I thought the Midwest was nothing but farmland and small towns. Yes, there’s a lot of that, but there are also so many awesome things to see and do in the Midwest! Here are a few of my favorites:

Lake of the Ozarks, located in Missouri, is a great place to get some sun and have some fun on the water! It’s a popular spot for boating and for hanging out lakeside at tiki bars, sports bars, and a more fine dining selection.

Henry Doorly Zoo located in Omaha, Neb. is one of the best zoos in the U.S. and one of Nebraska’s top paid attendance attractions. With over 130 acres and 17,000 animals, there is a lot to see and do, just bring your walking shoes!

Okoboji, Iowa has a beautiful chain of glacier carved lakes and West Lake Okoboji serves as their centerpiece--a giant playground to those who visit. It’s a great spot to boat, golf, shop, or even go to a museum!

Kansas City Schlitterbahn is a waterpark in Kansas City, Kan. that is home to the world’s tallest waterslide, Verrückt. This slide sends a three-person raft down 168 feet and 7 inches, up a hill, and then down another 50 feet; hold on tight!

Wisconsin Dells is known as the waterpark capital of the world! With both indoor and outdoor water parks, there is so much to do to do here. Plus other adventures like go-karts, zip-lining, and an indoor theme park! Between those adventures and the great dining and nightlife, you’ll never be bored.

Cedar Point located in Sandusky, Ohio is a 365-acre amusement park that opened in 1870, making it the second oldest operating amusement park in the U.S. It is the roller coaster capital of the world with 16 roller coasters, four of them being taller than 200 feet.

Twin Cities, Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City are a few of the better-known places of the Midwest and are always great places to visit. For awesome attractions like the Willis Tower in Chicago and the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, these are all great places. They also have a huge variety of restaurants and shops that make these places the perfect weekend getaway.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
