People of Starkville

People of Starkville is a glimpse into the many colorful lives that encompass this town, “Mississippi's College Town." Starkville, Miss., is a cornucopia of lives that beautifully come together to make this place that people from all over the country, and even the world, fall in love with for one reason or another.

Originally an Instagram account (go follow @peopleofstarkville), this concept of capturing real people in photos with quotes or stories to accompany them is much like the Humans of New York movement, which has an enormous social media following. The bio of the Instagram account reads: “Capturing people's stories one picture at a time."

Enjoy taking a small peak into just a few of the lives that make up Starkville, Mississippi.

What's it like reading in the Chapel?

"Sometimes it just takes us getting in silence in order for us to clearly hear what the Lord is telling us. The chapel is a place where I know I can go and just shut up and listen."

What has impacted you the most being at Mississippi State?

"The thing that has impacted me the most being at Mississippi State is just the different opportunities that I've been afforded. Through those opportunities, I've been able to hone in on leadership skills and just work on self awareness and improving upon myself."

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
