1. Classes are hard. In high school, studying is not something that students actively do for every test. When you come to college and you begin to fail because you do not know how to study for test after test. You learn quickly that studying is a must-have skill, and you have no idea where to even begin. When you have a test on 27 pages of notes, you start to curse the people who said college was easy.

2. Homesickness is not overrated. It is very real, and when it hits you, it hits you like a ton of bricks. As a senior in high school, you do not think it is possible to get away from your parents fast enough, but appreciate every moment you have with them. I guarantee that you will miss them when you move.

3. Figuring out what you want to do for the rest of your life at the age of 18 is hard. You graduate from high school, and you move out to suddenly realize that the world is a really big place with millions of different jobs for everything you can think of. It is okay to not know what you want do. Take your time. Your future is not something that should be decided in a rush.

4. Money is this precious thing you never appreciated before you came to college. In college, it is basically all you think about. Being a broke college kid is not just a stereotype. It is your life. Every cent is important, and you run out of money way quicker than you think you will. This is where guilt-tripping your parents sometimes comes in handy. They miss you, causing them to give you money. Take advantage.

5. Time management is so important because there is not enough time in the day. You will wake up in the morning, and think "I have the whole day to get things done," and then before you know it, it is midnight, and you have barely accomplished anything. I cannot tell you what I spend time doing; I just know that I do not spend productively.

6. Going to sleep early like you did in high school? Not possible. I am one of those people that used to go to sleep at 9:30 p.m. in high school, but doing that in college is not an option. Even if you want to go to sleep that early, you just cannot. There is always more homework, more social functions that you have to attend, or more episodes of your favorite show on Netflix. This is where naps come in. College turns you into a person who naps all the time. It is inevitable.

7. Going through recruitment and joining the Greek community is the best thing you can do. Yes, it is stressful being a new member and trying to figure out college life, but it is completely worth it. Having over 200 new sisters to help you handle your stress and get you through the tough days is the best part of college. Oh, and the swaps and date parties are super fun, too.

8. Get ready to make some of the very best friends you will ever have. These friends will support you in every decision, and you can call them at 2 a.m. to get you home whenever you cannot do it yourself. College friends rock, but do not forget your high school friends in the process. They are the people who know your background, and they are pretty awesome, too.

9. College rocks. You are free to do whatever you want, whenever you want, because you are an adult now and can make your own choices -- no matter how stupid they may be. You want Taco Bell at 2 a.m.? It is totally your choice, and you do not even have to tell anyone you are going. Being free is awesome. They do call college the best four years of your life for a reason.
