Dear Christian College Girls...

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." -Deuteronomy 31:6

Dear Christian College Girls...

Sometimes, living a Christian life can seem like an immense struggle. With so many negative influences around every corner, it takes a lot of strength to stay true to your faith, but I know it is possible and most does not have to be hard. It all depends on your perspective and what impact you want to make while you are in college.

Here are some things I wish all Christian college girls could hear, and that I hope will make it easier to choose to do God’s work while on campus.

Do not lower your standards

You are a God-loving girl who deserves a man who will push you to make God-pleasing choices and to grow in your walk with the Lord, not someone who pulls you off the path the Lord has made for you. Do not push aside the attributes you envisioned for your future husband and settle for someone who is not worthy of you. It may seem like a hopeless pursuit, right now, but trust me when I say this -- God’s perfect match for you will come into your life; you just need to have patience and wait on God’s timing.

Find friends who will keep you accountable

One thing I learned when I became a sorority girl was that there are many different groups of girls in each sorority. Not every sorority is the same and not every house has the same type of girls. You need to find the group that you best fit in with, who share the same values and beliefs  as you. I am not saying you shouldn’t talk or hang out with other types of girls, but when you find friends who share the same values, it is easier to keep yourself and each other accountable.

Be an example

It is hard to stand up for what you believe in, but being in a sorority provides so many opportunities to lead and be an example. Many people around campus look for opportunities to bash and discredit sororities and their members, but all this negative attention can be turned around and used to spread God’s message and love.

Do not be afraid to be your self

Sometimes, we may feel like we do not necessarily fit into one particular group. To make up for this, we try to impress whatever group we would like to be a part of, but we end up sacrificing who we are for the feeling of acceptance. God wants nothing more than for you to be true to yourself. Do not conform to what other people may be doing. These girls are your sisters; they will always accept you and cherish you for who you are. Be yourself and you will see that they will be drawn to the amazing Godly girl you are.

It is okay to be afraid of the future

We fear the future, perhaps because we are unsure of what it may hold, or because we have realized we cannot control it. One of the many struggles college students face is the choice of a major, a decision that ultimately determines what our future lives will be like. I am here to tell you that God has a plan for us, and it is far better than the plan we hold for ourselves. Our ultimate goal should not be to figure out everything ourselves, but to have the strength to put our trust and faith in the Lord.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
