Seriously, Shonda Rhimes?
Haven't you put all of us through enough misery? We all lived through the shooting, nearly drowning, the plane crash and so many more tragedies that ultimately led up to the death of Derrick Shepherd aka McDreamy. Now you have to go and threaten us with Meredith. I just watched the trailer for season 13, and I'm speechless that this is even a possibility.
After Derrick died, we all felt as though we lost a real-life loved one. Every week we fell deeper in love with him. I swore I was never going to watch another episode of "Grey's Anatomy" without Derrick, but an entire season went by without him and I continued to watch every single week at 7 p.m. on the dot. Honestly, though, Shonda, I'm not sure I can take much more. I don't know if I can deal with the thought of losing Meredith, too. It would all be too much for me to handle. Think about the children, who, by the way, are hardly ever on the show. Like, does Grey-Sloan Memorial have a 24/7 child care program? These are the questions that I long to know the answer to.
"Grey's Anatomy" has been the building block for my relationship "goals." Personally, I could really do without all that back-and-forth Meredith and Derrick had at the beginning of their relationship, but they were so perfect together. Beside the fact that the show is a great example of a real love, because theirs is far from perfect, it also shows us all "best friend goals." I have my last roommate to thank for my addiction to "Grey's." She is the Meredith to my Christina. She is, as you put it, Shonda, "My person." As Christina says about Meredith, "If I murdered someone, she's the person I'd call to help me drag the corpse across the living room floor. She's my person." In fact, this person of mine even had a bracelet made for me that says so, so it is pretty official.
I have never had a show captivate me as much as "Grey's Anatomy" (other than "The Black List"), but that is another story. You can feel every emotion with every character throughout the series. If you binge watch it on Netflix like I and every other female that I know did, you will be so wrapped up in it you may actually think you are certified to perform surgery. It happens to the best of us. One day you're a college student studying journalism and the next, you feel like you could walk into the emergency room and save lives.
Thanks, Shonda.
