Seven Signs You Have The Best Big In The World

Everyone thinks they have the best big in the world, but only one person really does (hint: it’s me).

These seven signs will help you determine if you’re on the road to second place.

1. She calls you “Little” instead of your name.

Even if you’re actually the taller one, you can barely remember the last time she called you by your name. And you kinda like it.

2. She crafts for you.

When I first went to college, I had no idea how many crafts I would need to make the drab dorm walls look lived in. My roommate and I joined the same sorority, so our dorm room may as well have been a room in the sorority house once our bigs got done showering us with painted canvases and other decorations.

3. She’s always down to break out in a random two-person dance party.

What kind of a best friend isn’t?!

4. She lets you have first dibs on all of her cute clothes.

You have precedence over anyone when it comes to her closet. And since she’s had a year more of sorority experience than you do, she has a year’s worth of more cute clothes for any occasion. Score.

5. She shows you off to everyone she knows.

Now not only do you have your entire group of friends, you have hers. And they automatically think you’re awesome because of how well she speaks of you (and how often).

6. She sets you up.

When you aren’t sure whom to bring to a date event, she’s got you covered. Any one of her guy friends would love to go with you. Might have something to do with #5 on this list.

7. She’s always down for a night in.

Going out with your big can be some of the most fun (and most shamble-y) nights you experience at school. But sometimes you just need a night in to eat Ben & Jerry’s and watch “Frozen.”

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
