Playing soccer as a kid: Whether it was your favorite thing to do or not, you probably hold some very distinct memories of it. And in my case, I'm very thankful that I did it. As you grew up with this sport, you probably know that there are many things now that you can acknowledge that make it rather obvious you grew up playing soccer.

1. You have very minimal upper body strength.

Let's face it, most of us focused solely on our legs, not our arms, unless perhaps you were a goalie. If you weren't though, you probably don't have much muscle going for you in the arm area.

2. On the other hand, your legs are stronger than most would think.

It doesn't hurt that with the whole sprinting back and forth thing, we ended up with muscular legs, and also pretty decent butts, I'd say.

3. The soccer tan is forever.

It almost seems as though it is permanent. Even if you haven't played in a while, it seems like when summer comes, it's 10 times harder to tan your shins than the rest of your body.

4. Soccer ball imprints are pretty sick.

Especially if it was a really cold day, it probably hurt quite a bit, but the mark a soccer ball will leave is actually really cool, and you are probably proud of it.

5. You want to cry a little anytime you hear "get on the line."

That never means anything good.

6. Tournaments may be the best part.

This is especially true if they are out of town and you get to leave for a weekend.

7. Getting new cleats was probably one of the best days ever.

Getting a new, colorful, pair of cleats—what beats that?

8. On a daily basis, you probably have no fear of eating a significant amount of junk food.

"I'll run it off later."

9. Goalie wars or world cup were the best two games you could ever play.

Nothing beats those two games, and you actually getting super excited to play them.

10. When it came to sprints you have thought more than once, "What if we just don't do it, what is he gonna do about it?"

You always still did it, though.

11. You probably had almost no life in high school when it came to anything other than soccer.

The practices and games took up the majority of your time.

12. Your team became your best friends.

It seemed to just be a group of girls that you didn't have any problem telling your problems to or complaining to, and you got very comfortable around one another.

13. When you stop playing, you come to realize that is solely what kept you in shape.

14. Though it was time consuming and tough, you wouldn't have wanted to grow up any other way.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
