Established in 1903, Lynchburg College, which was formerly called Virginia Christian College, has been a home away from home for hundreds of the thousands of students. Although it is very small, Lynchburg College has changed a great deal throughout time. The campus layout has altered, new buildings have been built while some have faded away. While writing this piece, I have tried my best to uncover secret places, tips, historical facts, and things that are offered on campus that many are unaware of.

Here are 30 facts about Lynchburg College that you probably didn't know.

1. If all of the computers are taken from the library, you can sign out a laptop from the circulation desk for three hours.

2. If you follow a vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free diet, there is a freezer in the Caf that has frozen foods that you can heat up in the microwave by the sandwich bar.

3. If you ever wanted to know what LC was like 100 years ago, The Argonaut, which is the Lynchburg College yearbook is available for students to browse. The bookshelf is located next to the DVD section of the library.

4. Back in the day, LC had clubs like "The Mustache Club," "The Bangs Club," and organizations for each state that students came from.

5. Can't find a place to study? Pete's Place (located on the first floor Drysdale) and the lower floor of Hall Campus Center (Ballroom) are usually always available.

6. First Floor Hobbs Faculty Lounge is the place to study at night. This room has couches, tables, and computers to use.

7. Tired of using up all of your LC Express to satisfy your coffee addiction? Brewed Awakenings has a discount if you bring your own reusable coffee mug. You can get $0.10 off the price of coffee. Not only will you be helping reduce waste on campus, but you will also be saving your money for midnight Dominos runs.

8. Fraternity life began on the Lynchburg College campus in 1962. The first fraternity at LC was Sigma Mu Sigma (Sigma Chapter) which was active until disbanded in the mid 1980s. Fraternities and sororities appeared on campus again in 1992.

9. Famous LC Alum include Whit Haydn (1972) and Deirdre Quinn (1993). Haydn has won seven "Magician of the Year" awards and held opening shows for stars such as Loretta Lynn and Jerry Seinfeld. Haydn also was a magic consultant for the Whoopi Goldberg movie "Bogus." Deirdre Quinn is known for being Miss Texas (Sandra Bullock's roommate) in Miss Congeniality. Quinn also starred in NBC's Heroes as "Texas" Tina.

10. SGA (Student Government Association) pays for all LC students to have access to the Greater Lynchburg Transit Company (GLTC) with their student ID. If you haven't taken advantage of this transportation service, I would highly recommend that you try it! The bus picks up students from the stop located near the entrance of the college (right by the LC sign at the bottom of the hill). The bus station schedule can be found right here.

11. The Snidow Chapel has over 10 practice rooms that feature high-quality pianos.

12. The lower level of the Chapel also has Mac computers and a great collection of sheet music to take a look at. There is plenty of comfortable seats to study, too.

13. You can rent out video cameras and filming equipment through Schewel.

14. Schewel Hall is home to our television studio, which is also where ABC WSET's "Living in The Heart Of Virginia" talk show is filmed.

15. On MyLC, you can reserve study rooms, classrooms, and even school bus transportation.

16. There is a trail system located near Wake Field House that leads to Beaver Point Club House and College Lake. This trail will take you to Lakeside Drive. If you make a right, cross the intersection and continue on Old Forest Road. There is a sidewalk on the right side, then make a right onto Monticello Road. There you will be at the Lynchburg Dog Park. This park has trails that connect all the way to Blackwater Creek Trail System. In the future, LC would like to create a safe connecting route to Blackwater Creek Trails.

17. Near College Lake rests Acorn Labyrinth that was created in the Spring of 2015 by LC Sangha. The Labyrinth repurposes a fire pit that was gifted by the LC Class of 1940.

18. You can purchase discounted movie tickets at The Hub in Drysdale.

19. All LC students can get access to Liberty University's SnowFlex for free during the week using their ID.

20. By going on the ITR website, all students can download the Avast Antivirus Software for free.

21. ITR has a partnership with Microsoft, which allows all students to receive Office 365 programs for free (Mac or PC). Contact ITR to make an appointment for these programs to be installed on your computer.

22. The Adventure/Challenge Course trail is located near the practice fields.

23. The Outdoor Leadership Program provides each LC organization with one free low-ropes course instruction each year.

24. Do you need a break from studying? Are you lacking inspiration? The Daura Art Gallery located in Dillard displays many various exhibits throughout the year that we should all take advantage of.

25. The librarians at the Knight Capron Library have complied a Flickr account with photos of LC dating all the way back to its opening in 1903.

26. The library also has a basement. The rumor has it that it was once a bomb shelter.

27. The Library also contains a series of "Zines," which were student written magazines filled with quotes, photography, and literature pieces.

28. The Lynchburg College Wind Symphony and Orchestra performs various concerts throughout the year, which are free to students with reservations. The most popular annual concert is the "Night At The Movies" theme. In addition to student performers, many LC staff perform as well.

29. You can now recycle glass in designated single stream recycling containers on campus.

30. In 1952, the Class of 1952 conducted a senior project to create an outdoor amphitheater for presentations and theater productions called The Grove. The Grove's location was most likely where the current Wake Field House stands today.
