No matter what people say, Thanksgiving is literally the best holiday on the planet. It is like a gateway drug to Christmas and wintry joy. Not only do we get to break our diet, but we also get to hang out with those people in our family we secretly wish to see more often. Â
While we sit around the dining room table with our most cherished loved ones, our mom's favorite thing to do is to force us to say what we are most thankful for. As we scramble to come up with something neutral but true (because our mom is standing in the way of turkey), we will probably say family, our health or, for those more patriotic folk, our freedom.   Â
Let’s be real. As much as we truly are appreciative for our right to vote, you realize that there are a lot more specific things to be thankful for as a college student.   Â
When the bus driver waits for you to get on the bus even though you are way behind everyone else. Blessed are those who actually care that you get to class on time.  Â
When your dad or mom comes up to visit you and they cook you a home cooked meal. Because in reality, you don’t really deserve your parents after everything they do for you.    Â
Amanda Bynes’ tweets. @amandabynes: god i’m cute.  Â
Set up dates for social events that don’t end up in utter disaster.Â
Not completely embarrassing yourself at grub this year. Â
Your houseboy.  Â
Avoiding standards meetings for yet another semester. Â
Whenever anyone bought you food. Because, food.
And most importantly...   Â
Jimmy John’s delivery  Â
Take the time to give a shout out to what matters most -- those times you gained back your dignity after a night of making a complete idiot out of yourself. It is probably not best to bring it up at Thanksgiving dinner that you managed not to make a mockery of your chapter for yet another year. Just sit at your dining table with your family, "smize" like Tyra taught you to, and have no shame in what you are really grateful for.
