Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will host "Saturday Night Live" on November 7, with pop sensation Sia as his musical guest.
Trump's upcoming "SNL" gig won't be the first time he graced the iconic stage. The last time he hosted the show was April 3, 2004.
In his last monologue, Trump boasted about being a "ratings machine" after his then-new reality show, "The Apprentice," became the top show on television at the time.
"After just one season, I am about to become the highest-paid television personality in America," Trump said in his monologue. "And as everyone in this room knows, 'highest-paid' means 'best'."
However, just like the illegal immigration comments Trump has made during his candidacy, there's been lots of major backlash over his hosting gig.
In a CNN opinion article entitled "Don't Put Donald Trump on 'SNL'," writer Felix Sanchez said many Latinos thought that when NBC Universal cut ties with Trump over the Miss Universe Pageant and "The Apprentice," they would cut ties with him altogether. Sanchez also wrote that Trump is too much of a potential ratings bonanza for "SNL" to pass up, considering the show's low ratings in recent years.
"The Trump invitation is tantamount to validating his comments that Mexican immigrants are 'rapists and murderers'," Sanchez, the co-founder of the National Hispanic Foundation of the Arts, wrote in his article.
There was even a Twitter firestorm when the show's page announced Trump as a host.
One user wrote about Trump's episode as the "worst episode ever," while another user wrote that the decision "makes the execs look really desperate."
On a much lighter note, Trump's "SNL" hosting gig will be the second time a presidential candidate appeared on the show this season.
When Miley Cyrus hosted the show's season premiere, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton introduced Cyrus as the musical guest and served as a bartender to the "SNL" version of Hillary Clinton, played by Kate McKinnon.
Only time will tell if Donald Trump and "SNL" Donald Trump, played by Taran Killam, will appear in a scene together.
