Doing Indy

Although growing up in Indianapolis wasn't always the most exciting, the experiences that you had and the amazing people you met made it worth it. Speaking from experience, I know that nowhere can replace your hometown, and even though it sucks when you're here, once you're away, that yearning for your hometown will come for you with a vengeance. Though Indianapolis is the fourteenth largest city in the United States, you cannot go anywhere without seeing someone you know. Whether you were born and raised here or you just moved here in the last couple years, you feel like Indianapolis is truly your home.

1. You know your exact order from Yats.

2. When going to the mall, you have to decide if you want to spend hundreds of dollars at The Fashion Mall or accept your inner middle schooler at Castleton Square Mall.

3. Whenever anyone mentions Carmel, you cannot help but scowl a little bit.

4. Driving around 465 is a fun weekend activity.

5. Going to the State Fair every year is required. Eating all the unhealthy foods you can possibly can is suggested.

6. The Christmas tree lighting downtown on the Circle is a annual family tradition.

7. Walking around Broad Ripple during the summer is the best way to spend the day.

8. Anytime that you hear "Shane Company..." you can finish the radio commercial with no hesitation.

9. You are used to anyone from outside Indiana to ask you if you live on a farm.

10. Everyone immediately expects you to go to Indiana University, Purdue, IUPUI, or Ball State University for college.

11. You are extremely proud of the fact that the show "Parks and Recreation" is based in Indiana (even if it's a made up town).

12. Getting out of Klipsch after a concert is a hell you wouldn't wish upon your worst enemy because of the amount of people.

13. Saying the name "Tom Brady" is as bad as saying some curse words.

14. At least three of your friends parents work at Eli Lilly.

15. You see the Chicken Limo driving around and have always wanted to ride around in it.

16. You'll always have a special place in your heart for Peyton Manning.

17. The Indianapolis 500. Need I say more?

18. You have your favorite Steak 'n Shake location, server, and milkshake flavor.

19. You remember when Bankers Life Fieldhouse was Conseco and Lucas Oil Stadium was the RCA Dome.

20. No matter what anyone says, Indianapolis was a great place to grow up, and you have no regrets for living here.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?"

Brooke Davis

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:
